Move the seat one click back and go and do a route you know...

It is important that you only put the same ammount of pressure on the accelerator as normal.

See if that makes a difference.

I did this with a previous car and it makes a significant difference while not compromising speed and acceleration.

I get anywhere from 270 - 350 from £60 worth of vpower.

My best mate bought a hatch vrs and he was getting 200 - 220 from same amount but was doing shorter journeys and hooning about.

Wish I could afford to buy a car. Running a car is absolutely no problem, just don't have 5-6K lying around to buy an *actual* car.

Could swap with mine? Average 61 to work this morning and I've got a tiny commute (5 miles). Car is barely warm enough. However, a 12 hour shift means I commute at 6:30am and the roads are dead. 30mph and cruise all the way :D

My commute to work is only 3 miles and my vRS barely warms up on the commute from Penarth in to Cardiff (all main roads, a few queues) and I generally manage 26mpg. Last night I did the same journey in light traffic and saw 34mpg. I think that's pretty good. I don't boot it because the car is cold.

I think it would be nice to keep the car but only you can know if you can afford to run it until the engine is loose enough so MPG improves in a few years.

Mines only just brought the fuel light on after doing 175 miles and only putting £35 of V Power in.

It really does sound like your car is either still very tight/running in, or there is something wrong with it, my usual drive to work is only 6 miles and I still get an indicated 33-36mpg on the display.

What if the driver's seat is already back as far as it can go?

Is there a stop I move to let it go back another click, won't be much room behind me but I would be a bit more comfortable.

Hypermilers actually do a bit of zen driving and take off shoes and sock and just drive with big toe, give better control for micro-movements on the throttle.

Bring back the 1.9D, John O'Groats to Land's End on a tank.

I think the engine just tight as today done a 20 mile urban trip and got 32/36mpg? might be the cold weather as well

Cold weather has a big input on mpg... Harder to warm engine up etc etc

i am putting £60 vpower every 170 miles?

I put £60 diesel in my greenline and get about 600-650 miles :)

mind you not as much fun to drive :(

Has it had any serious fun yet?

We took ours to Snowdonia at around 1750 miles and really gave it the beans up and down mountains.

It really seemed to just settle it in a little after that short holiday.

I easily get over 300 miles from a tank and that's stuck in traffic going to work every morning. Long runs I'm hitting high 40's mpg and seeing potential range of 450 miles.

Rarely use S mode, I see no point, unless I was at a track day.

I do around 1200 miles a month in my vRS, often more.
