Stage 1 differences

Featured Replies

New mot rules came in march..if it had a cat fitted when it left the factory it has to stay on if it's not it fails.

Want it as close to standard as I can....the welding options do seem like good ideas but I would just want to swap part for part on downpipes, and obviously legal! Not planning on an uprated exhaust or anything i dont reckon, stage 1 would be enough for me.

In no rush for the pipe anyway so I'll just keep waiting!

I think I may have hijacked the original thread a little bit anyway so apologies!!

Youll be happy with the power upgrade.

But, running your car with a decat is not illegal. There is nothing in the law that states running a decat is illegal and that it won't pass an mot. If you can get your car through an emissions test without a cat it would still be a pass. Obviously we all know that is very unlikely to happen haha

Ah but as stated it is not just about getting through emissions now it is about having the cat as per fitted in factory, which will fail an MOT without one fitted now....

I am not sure if Police have the write to check and enforce outside of MOT's but I bet they can If you get stopped by Police and get a vehicle check???

In my opinion unless the copper is a certified MOT tester he cannot take the car off the road. Whether that's the law or not that is my opinion.

Emissions law for cars is silly, there are a lot more pollutant things than cars in the world.

How does a coppa know where in the exhaust the cat should be fitted ?

You can't see the full downpipe looking under the car, and looking from the engine bay it's obscured too.

I agree buddy

They don't buddy, but they set up road side checks using specified emission checks in some places ( and no doubt mean a trip to a certified place) and as a decat will fail it won't take much to check further.

Road side check isn't too much of a worry as I doubt even vosa know where the cats are on all cars, and I doubt they are going to jack a car up and crawl under it to check, when it fails.

I guess they could take you to a certified place and get it on a ramp, but thats going to be time consuming when your car could fail because of a faulty lambda sensor or cat anyway.

Hang on, before euro I II, III, IV etc then transport was one of the major polluters and given the growth of the combustion engines since the 70s when people stayed to get concerned then emissions control was the right thing to do, at least for my kids and grandkids it probably is a good thing. Sure, there is other **** out there too, but let's not bury our heads in the sand.
