Dectane rear led clusters for limo question.

Featured Replies

Been waiting ages for dectane to have some LED rear clusters for the hatchback. Now they have them , but on further inspection they are listed as not compatible with RS/4x4 scout models. Is there a difference between the rear clusters or wiring between a standard octavia and an RS ? Thought on the pre-fl they were all the same.

E-mailed dectane , but thought i would get some information from the forum .

Could it be something to do with not having reflectors built into the light unit? On FL thats fine because they are in the bumper but preFL they should be in the lamp unit I think?

They'll fit.

It's the default setting everyone uses, to say they won't fit the vRS / Scout models. Same with mudflaps etc.

The pre-FL Scout has reflectors in the bumper so the non-reflectored clusters are fine.

When they are in stock I will order some I think, it does say year range only 04-08. Did they change any wiring connectors or anything else? I can look through the wiring diagrams but just thought I would ask first.

I wonder if the built in technology to comply with the CCM lighting checks only works with 04-08 as later cars may be a little different.

They're not in stock yet anyway :-(

Really need to proceed with caution I guess.

Remember there is an issue with LED numberplate lights.

Work fine on Mk2 Pre-FL, then they stop working and then from the 2012 onwards they work again. So there are some changes being made to wiring and monitoring somewhere.

Returning things to Germany isn't the easiest thing in the world and you have no DSR with things bought outside of the UK.

I'd be interested in some for my car - but want to be 100% sure there would be no issues.

If you go for them you'll need to get some pictures up, the units look good although the pictures they have of them on the car don't look that great. It's hard to tell whether they're fit with the car or look a bit tacky.

That's the thing i'm not too sure about. After waiting for so long had investigated just getting the the red C sections of the rear clusters tinted black/smoke ( to match the colour of my car ) , but did not want it to look tacky. It's real easy to go over the top with a black colour car and coding. The smoke led clusters seem like a good halfway house that's if the look decent.

I was worried about getting the black ones for estate, but was so glad I did when I fitted them

A few people have tinted their rear lights and then had to remove it due to the severe reduction in light output.

The MkII Octavia relies on 2x 4W and 2x 3W bulbs in each cluster which are quite dim in isolation but look bright enough as there are plenty of them.

My personal opinion on tinted lights is that they look a little 'Knightrider' and best left back in the 80's.

Stick with the Dectane ones as at least they are still bright enough.
