Featured Replies

which is the best oil for skoda octavia VRS 1.8T ?

OWS Uber Power Turbo Racing (EXPENSIVE) ??

OWS Syntholube XTREME 5W60??

CASTROL OEM SYNTHETIC OIL ??

I use Castrol... no complaints here.

fuchs titan race pro s 10w50

I use standard quantum from the local dealer and change it every 5k guaranteed to be the right spec and cheaper than fancy names lol

Sent from my Galaxy S3, not a Crapple!

As raf said.

Quantum longlife III 5w30

or

Quantum Platinum 5w40

Variable or fixed respectivly. I personally dont and never have changed my oil the early. My octy went on longlife from new and always went 18k ish and when I removed the sump on 101k it was pritty good in there.

If your gonna change that early use platinum as its about a tenner cheaper for 5l. Or get to tps and every so often they do deals on a 20l can lol

Got my last one for well under 70 pound lol. Dont want to say actual cost tho but even at that its cheaper than anything else and the genuine stuff.

Quantum is even longlife 4 rated for bmw too.

I use Fuchs Titan Race Pro S 5w40

The specific VW spec for longlife oil is: VW 504 00 or VW 507 00

difference between 5w40 and 5w60 ?

5w60 is far too thick for normal road use, especially in a deisel

my car is petrol so which one is better ?

Read above, all the answers are there.

£62!! :o

Fluff that for a laugh!

Bargain.

Are you A millionaire?

Why waste your money on that whet you can get 20l of platinum from tps for about that?

Err pls tell me you're joking! I'm sure race car engines have their oil changed after each race so that would equate to every 150ish miles? lol

Makes £26 for oil, filter and sump plug from the dealers a major bargain lol

Yea but race car engins are on the edge and pushed all the time.

But that price for 5l is shear madness.

castrol edge 5w30 fully synth

great stuff but expensive

Read the reviews on it.

I do 3-5k miles a year so only do one oil change a year, spread the cost over that time and to me its well worth it.

No it isnt!

Its just daft wasting money like that. If you do so little miles then get quantum longlife 3 5w30 for half that and run it for 2 years. Works out a quarter the cost?

Wish I had the money to do that with. Ide use it for something else like but would be nice to have it.

why would anyone leave oil for 2 years. its not about the cost to me, its about performance and protection, both of which the millers excels at.

5litres of castrol edge would cost me £42 so its actually just £20 extra which spread over a year is sweet fa. its certainly not a waste.

Fully synth oils are made so they dont degrade.

2 years is nothing if all you do is 10k.

End of the day its your money mate soI am not bothered what you do with it. Just saying I see it as daft waisting all that money when its a lot cheaper doing it another way and youll get the same result.

Its only a 1.8t not a Ferrari or Aston.

The OP lives in Berlin so I would guess that TPS and Quantum are non-starters. The 1.8T engines were originally factory filled with specification VW 503.00 oil. My advice would be to use that spec oil or the more recent VW 504.00 oil which may be more readily available. Both are synthetic Longlife oils. Alternatively you can use any 501.01 or 502.00 oil which, along with 504.00 oil, are what the most recent Mk 1 Octavia Owners Manual recommends for fixed service intervals.

I use the Fuchs Titan Race, which I think is expensive, however the way I look at it is, that it's much cheaper than a new engine and you know it has good all round protection.

All fully synthetic oils are not the same, and if Quantum was so great then why do the 1.8t's suffer with blocked oil strainers ?

I agree the millers NT stuff is expensive and tbh I wouldn't pay the extra for the NT stuff over there normal CFS, but i'm not a fan of millers anyway as i've only ever used it twice and both times I had a turbo failure which then caused the engines to fail whilst using it (although I do know what caused the failures and it wasn't the oil, just a coincidence, but I don't use it now).

The 1.8t suffers strainer trouble because of bad maintenance, using other oils, tthe way you drive and lots of things.

Ive only ever used it and my octy since I started servicing her. Before that it was skoda dealers service and when I changed mine ot was clean as and tbh I prob shouldnt of done it but its too late once sump is off.

Quantum os made by castrol anyway isnt it? Sure I read someone had found that out?

Plus its that cheap you cam change every 5 - 8k and still be cheaper than other oils so its a win win. More regular maintenance and saves you money.

Doesnt matter either way lol. I love it and I use it. Gonna start uaing it in my wifes car too over the 15w40 or 10w40 it says to use as she travels 2mile to work so a thiner oil on cold should be better? From what ive read also some users of the m5 V8 found it to work better in their motor when not tracking it just for daily use so I can use it in my next toy too as it will only be a cruising machine lol.
