Boot latch / lock giving up?

Featured Replies

I have noticed recently the boot does not open when I push the button either on the bootlid, or the remote. It makes the usual whirr type noise but remains firmly tight shut. I have found it will open if I push down on the bootlid whilst I hit the button, and then it is OK.

Symptomatic of imminent latch failure? What happens if the latch totally jams? Is it simply a case of fitting the latch from a more recent, working, car to preserve the life of the bootlid?

Mind started doing the same Jason, I just reposition the latch plate a bit further "up" and that cured the problem.

Thanks. Another thing to think about when I have some time. I have never messed with this area, so feel like a total bootlid noob :D

My homebrew did this from time to time. It was an adjustment problem . Possibly worst in cold weather ,suggesting that cable was not set right .

I also have this problem, any advice on how to adjust the latch/cable ?

Mine opens from the key fob button but not the boot button. Definitely worse in cold weather too. Would love to sort it!

mine doesn't open at all atm, best way to pop it manually so I can adjust it?

mine was acting up lately. i took it apart and cleaned up all the contacts and wd40'd them

Mine does this, too. Particularly in cold weather as previously mentioned. The mechanism always 'fires' but doesn't quite manage to release on the first attempt.

How do you adjust the cable?

That's the kind of thing I'd do, then lose something essential, or not put it back right and end up simply breaking it :D
