Where is oil filter on mk1 fabia Vrs?

Featured Replies

Hi guys can someone please point out where the oil filter is please I haven't got a clue where it is. Cheers

Remove plastic engine cover and bang right infront off you buddy there will be a metal houseing with a black plastic nut in top unscrew and reveal the prize lol

Front right of the engine block, its the metal can shaped bit with a black screw lid. 32mm socket needed from memory, preferably a 6 sided one.

Sweet thanks guys!!!

I did mine today, get a bin bag ready for the old filter... it can be messy!

And don't forget to change the O-ring seal on the cap

yeah I don't oil changes in the past a couple of times. Just didn't know where the filter was on this. The oil filter was purchased from the dealer and comes with both new I rings and a new sump plug:-) I'm filling her up with quantum platinum ( the proper stuff ). Just hope the weather sees fit for tomorz.

Take the black plastic cap off with a proper 36mm (I think) socket - as otherwise it's pretty fragile! Also make sure you retighten it to the correct torques!

Some are 36mm socket. Mine is.

Make sure you don't overtighten the sump plug.

Have a look at torque ratings here :)

Was just saying bud, as I'm glad I had a bin bag spread out all over the front of the car as it ****ed absolutely everywhere when I tried to move it from the safety of the filter housing to the bag lol!!

Just been out and measured. It's 32mm. I got a 6 sided socket for the job and borrowing a torque wrench from the boss lol

It doesn't need a mega amount of effort to tighten and undo. Definitely don't need a torque wrench to do it up, or at least ensure it is set to the weak level required for adequate tightening. :)

Always remember your tighness settings:

- Tight

- FING Tight

- Get the Skaff pole.

You are looking just to nip it up, not tight just nip it up.

Little tip also, Unscrew it. Let it rest in the holder for 2 min, Give it a tap before you pull it all the way out and it should reduce the spilliage.

Managed to get the oil changed with no problems what so ever. It certainly runs a lot smoother now. Hardest part really was getting the right amount of oil in. I filled her up to half way across the hatched patch and started engine for ten seconds to let the oil filter fill up. Then after 20 mins of letting it settle I carried on topping it up to the right amount. That was the longest part
