Aftermarket alarm systems.

Featured Replies

This topic isnt really just limited to Fabias as such but ive got a fabia so its best place to start i guess..

Basically a few week back i started a topic about some wonderful human stealing all of my front end just about without setting off any alarms.

Im wanting to fit something extra so what my alarm goes off regardless of it the cars actually been broken into. because they managed to do it in such a way without actually triggering it.

Is there something on the market anyone has that i could somehow attach it to my bumper/bumpers to avoid this kind of mess happening again because this has cost me a friggin fortune!!!

Any input would be great, ive checked Ebay, whenever you put in alarm systems i may as well have just put in, cheap naf from china that will most likely cause fault city and if it didnt bring that up it brough up parking sensors lol.

Cheers.

Alarms are just not worth the hassle, most if not all people ignore them these days, partly because of the fact that they seem to go off for no reason. If someone wants something from or in your car then an alarm system will not stop them.

Just done a quick search on Google and there is such thing as a shock sensor alarm. You set the sensor to a certain level (guessing 0 being very low, 10 being VERY sensitive like a leaf falling on it) then if anything touches that area it goes off. Cant imagine it being cheap either.

I know your natural reaction following a theft is to secure your property but i'm not sure an alarm is the best answer. To get the kind of protective bubble you're after will have your alarm going off every time a cat gets too close or anything heavy/loud goes past. Your best option would be a garage, you'll also get a discount with most insurers.

It was parked on a private back road and on my drive anyway. I know the alarm wont stop them im not that soft, but i know if it goes off, im going to hear it, and then im going to disturb them and catch them in the act but cheers anyway.

you want a proximity alarm as soon as some one goes within 2 feet of the car it goes off .... step away from the vehicle lol ....

I think Clifford have alarms with tilt sensors on. On my old corsa gsi if you went near it it would chirp that was a toad alarm

One of the blokes at work had this. He came back to a flat battery most days lol use to go off constantly

Depending how it was done I'm not sure an alarm would have done much. A tilt sensor would not have gone off unless they jacked the car up - tilt sensors are more to protect against wheel theft. A shock sensor wouldn't necessarily have gone off when removing the bumper, depending on how much force they used.

You can get systems that activate from alarm sensors which send you a text message. This can be in addition to or instead of a siren, so it could act almost like a silent alarm.

Installing an alarm is quite an intensive process and requires wiring diagrams for the car, and knowledge to understand them and where to attach wires. Soldering skills are also needed as scotch loks aren't good enough.

I work for volkswagen so thats no issue for me. I know alarms as such wont work but I'm wanting to do something in such a way that i can attach something to my bumper which will break causing a reaction i just wondered if anyone had done something like this before thats all. I was thinking of just getting some wiring and somehow connecting to the bumper and wiring and a relay to a horn in the bulkhead or something along that kind of idea. So soon as its broke it will trigger it.

In all honesty i doubt they will come back its just some little tramp that cant afford to buy stuff after they've smashed their car up and thought it would be better to steal from someone else instead but as you can imagine im more paranoid than a pot head now!
