Time to call it a day....

I really am amazed at the amount of talk my post about the cooper generated. Maybe I made an error in my judgement in that incident but a lot of others would / have done the same at some point but maybe won't admit it.

Kenny's original post was not aimed to single anyone out, so maybe my post pushed some over the edge? I am not here to try to stir up trouble.

Not every Fabia owner is new to the road, not every fabia owner is a chav and I am certainly NOT a chav, I am way to old for that. I must admit I can be more than outspoken at times in my comments and being ex military (17yrs that is) sometimes raises it's head up in "gobby" mode from time to time.

Having owned a lot of different cars, and bikes for that matter, some of which may have been classed as performance vehicles in some circles the overall package of the fabia surprises me every time I drive it. In fact I have just ordered 2 new Audi A4's for the company and I am keeping the Fabia, and giving "my" A4 to my wife to use (My co-director thinks I am mad .. but he can't get his head around the "Skoda" badge).

So, to summarize, I would hate to think that in my very short time here I have contributed in some way to anyone leaving the forum. What I posted about the cooper was fairly accurate and it was never going to get into "Death Race 2000" scenario. Now I have a feel for the typical audience on Briskoda, I will perhaps think twice before posting. I am more used to the "style" of Visordown, Scoobynet other forums I belong to.

Appologies to all who have been offended

Regards

i welcome your response and i may add that i hadnt even read your thread until after i had done this one. as stated by yourself and my original post i am in no way singling anyone out, it was merely an observation over a longer period of time.

after reading your post, i agree everyone does things they shouldnt on the road but really try to keep that at a minimum and most importantly learn from things they do wrong-im not relating this to your situation just stating how i see it

Briskoda was always about beating things in a skoda... but it was fact based decimation of the opposition.. not b.s. turbo diesel antics....

No it wasn't Paul .................That was just you ................bye ...........

if this was aimed at me and any others supporting what i say then i appreciate the advice. im an intellegent(well kinda ;) )guy and i understand my opinion is not always going to be the same as everyone else.

in this case i posted how i felt and wanted to see what others thought. i feel iv got a subject out in the open that maybe many were thinking about

So ... minimoto?? What have you got? I just sold a thumpstar mini bike in "mini" supermoto trim.

I race a Polini 911 GP2. Been racing for a couple of years now. I'm not a big fan of the Thumpstars/Xsports though. I've had a try of them, but they just didn't do it for me. Minimoto is more of a rush.

Thread Hijack :)

I was practising at 3 sisters on my Supermoto last year and there where some minimoto sidecar racers ..... utterly bloody mad. I am a bit to big for the minimoto scene :)

i posted how i felt and wanted to see what others thought.

I was thinking it, and I haven't even been here long. It is very noticable, worse even than the Fiat forum I am on and that is full of punto chavs.:D

The freedom of speech argument holds some weight but still I would rather not see these posts personally. I don't agree with speeding excessively or road racing and I certainly don't approve of boasting about it, worse there is always that chance that this type of posts actually encourages others to do it.

I drive a Octavia 1.9TD and yes, I have been known to make a chav or two in a 1.2 fiesta look stupid at the traffic lights. Wouldn't dream of posting it though and certainly wouldn't dream of racing performance cars, or racing any cars at speed.

Getting upset about a certain individual who you will probably never get to meet is not worth anyone's time. These are forums, and people put up their opinions and should be allowed to express them when valid, and they shouldn't offend other people on the forum.

If someone wants to race, then so be it, what's it got to do with anyone else? Fluff beat the Cooper S, so what?? It isn't impossible to beat one, it's 170 BHP and it's pretty heavy for Mini, so what's so surprising? So he did something dangerous but nothing happened. Right? And bringing this into debate won't change what already happened will it?

These forums don't uphold any laws except the laws and rules which a user should abide by in using these forums. You have the right to give advice to people in a proper way without making them feel like **** about it.

My 2 cents....taka taka...

Des , Briskoda wasn't about bullshi11ing about being quicker than everyone else ..................Briskoda was a small community , with people who were happy to drive Skodas , enjoyed going to meets and track days .

Things change , not always for the better ..........

All very well to say until someone who is racing crashes....

...and crashes into you.

I am happy to drive a skoda .... I gave up my 2003 Mint Impreza WRX for it, and am passing my new A4 over to my wife and will use the Fabia for daily use.

Some threads are bull, others are not, maybe it's time this thread was closed?

The bit in the middle hasn't changed m8, just ignore the rest if you wish.

Lifes to short.

I'll try Des .......

My point is there is nothing you can do other than give advice Mr. Pepper. Face it, you have no control over anyone other than yourself, and once you see that then we won't have these pointless threads about what's happening to the forums and the existence of 'chavs' or whatever the hell they are etc.

Yes, there are many stupid drivers on the road, but it's their privilege to have that mentality. I've been crashed into many times by ignorant drivers. On the spot I'll screm my lungs out but at the end it ain't worth it.

Like mellowyellow said, things change...not always for the better.

I really like these forums guys, and bringing up these topics will only provoke certain individuals to roll up some heat, which I do not want personally. I am a member of one of the sh****est forums online in regards to overall maturity of the users, and I've stopped posting there and just stick to this site.

Just leave it be.

Must admit it's nice to see you in here all the same.

You mean you have quit scoobynet ... at a guess?

Lets just hope those who are on here to brag get somewhat bored of being ignored and give up.

As said before it doesnt take much for one car to be quicker than the next if there is an inexperienced and stupid driver behind the wheel.

Tony (Fluff) don't take the responses that your thread has provoked personally. The forum has seen an increase in threads of a similar subject matter and a few members (me included) are a bit tired of it...... freedom of speech was mentioned and I would agree but it goes both ways. If people are dissatisfied then they're also entitled to speak out.

Due to interests in other cars I often frequent other forums and honestly believe that this forum is the worst for 'those' types of topic. Christ even the Pug 205 forums I go on are pretty 'chav' free....

No no...it's not a car website..a music website...my friend owns it, but most of the users (the newbies) who've registered are stupid teenagers...when I first registered 2 years ago it was nice, like this...but then it got publicity when we got together and I released two tracks on radio, then the member registration numbers started soaring...kids...no moderation now coz the moderators are too busy at work...

It's a good job that folks here do not visit Visordown to often, I am used to things being more "raw" belonging and even moderating on several two wheeled forums.

Things did look to be getting a little personal in the now closed thread, everyone is entitled to an opinion of course, but I wanted to make it clear I am not here to blow the wind up anyones skirt / trouser leg (delete as nec')

Must admit it's nice to see you in here all the same.

I'll second that.................,funny, is it me or has anyone else noticed the old face's {or should that read names :D } dont post much these days.....

Growth i suppose,

Steve
