Octavia vRS 170 PD

Featured Replies

Well after nearly 12 months without my old octavia I have finally got another a Blue 08 plate vRS 170 PD!

Picking up this friday and can't wait, it appears to be well kitted out has Sat nav, heated seats, full dual climate and more.

Question- Does the Sat nav need updating regulary? and if so are the updates expensive?

Thanks

Steve

Might not have the Columbus fitted. Got the Nexus in my 2007 and I got hold of a 2012 'back up' disc  recently for just over £20 off Ebay.

Nice, not sure on the Sat Nav, I'm sure there will be an updated disc to keep it fresh with new roads etc.

I found this so not too hard on the pocket?

Or a genuine disc from a Skoda retailer...

Has it been in for the injector recall?

Cheers for the reply mate will bear those in mind as not sure how up to date it is!

Not sure about recall being done however am aware of it as my sis has an A3 170 derv and hers had it done, needed the lot replaced and harness too IIRC.

Hi mate, how do I tell which unit I have?

Or would a pic of it help you guys tell?

cheers

Steve

Well got the car as planned and well chuffed with it! After a bit of learning I now know it has the Columbus head unit which is fantastic dead easy to operate.

As already stated its got more toys than I realised and the first owner must of ticked nearly every option on the list and them fitted :-)

How do I know if it has had the injector recall or if it is needed??

Also I'm not totally convinced it is standard BHP as it accelerates bloody fast, just wondering what fellow 170PD owners think? maybe i'm just not used to it yet!

Finally, does this model have a wavy fuel gauge? sure mine goes up and down on RA's and sharp corners!!??

mines a nexus, got a link mate?

Sorry mate a link to what??

What extra toys does it have!?

If the injector recall has been done there will be a white sticker on the boot floor next to the spare wheel under the lift-up carpet/panel.

If not ring up Skoda UK (08457 745 745) or any Skoda dealer with the reg / VIN number.

My fuel gauge is rock steady.

Hi there,

By way of toys it may be my ignorance or just not knowing whats standard! it has the jumbo pack i assume ie xenons, cruise, heated seats(but only half leather) the columbus HU, parking sensors and still has the 6 disc in the boot so could have a choice of 7 discs :-), 18's, rear lecky windows, and tyre monitoring.

I'll check for sticker tomorrow but if it hasn't, is this a recognised recall now as I was searching the threads and could only find ones from 2011 when people were having trouble with the dealers over this??

cheers

Steve

Pictures?

The injector recall is being forced through by VOSA.

If it hasn't been done already it will be done free of charge irrespective if the car is out of warranty or been remapped.

If you struggle to sleep this little thread should do the trick...

http://www.briskoda.net/forums/topic/197422-vag-170-ps-diesel-injector-failures-vosa-action/page__hl__%20injector%20%20recall

Cruise control, heated seats, parking sensors and the Colmbus head unit were all factory fit extra cost options, you can tell if you have xenons if there are headlight washers (colour coded caps) under each headlight and the manual rotary knob to adjust the headlight beam next to the main headlight switch is missing (xenon's self level using sensors on the suspension).

The Jumbo Box (adjustable arm rest, AUX-in and chilled storage compartment), 18" alloys, rear electric windows and typre pressure monitoring were all standard by 2008.

Other options to look out for include auto lights and wipers, curtain airbags, active headrests, dimming rear view mirror, front parking sensors, sunroof and Maxidot.

Sounds like you got a nice one. As above pics please!

Awesome help there silver1011 thank you! I defo have xenons as thats what I noticed in cockpit no adjustment dial! well its got jumbo stuff and it also has rear dimming mirror and auto lights and wipers but no front sensors, can live without to be fair.

No sunroof and not sure what maxidot is TBH.

Not massivley concerned about recall but if its needed my local dealer will be doing it they won't have a choice!

Trying to do pics but i'm not very good at this as my files are all over 1mb can't get em' smaller

Maxidot allows greater access into the cars functions (auto locking over 15mph, one press of the key fob to open all doors or just the drivers door, coming/leaving home lights etc. etc.) and has better graphics to show which door is open, which bulb has blown etc.

The best way to upload pictures is by using a third party hosting site such as Photobucket etc.

Enjoy!

well your help again is much appreciated, it has maxidot as when i was using the sat nav it showed the RA and what exit to take, compass and trip computer so it has that for sure!

It also has lights on when unlocking in the dark so another function i forgot!

Will give photobucket a go and get my pics up, gotta feeling I will be a regular on here now i've got this car :-)

Thanks again silver1011

Sounds like you've got yourself a nicely spec'd up car, congratulations!

I'm in Carlisle but I'm out and about all the time really, my car looks pretty much the same as yours, except without the Xenon's, not jealous at all there! I'll keep an eye out for you.
