Ok. So ot would appear so far that no one has used this pricey stuff.

Any other recommendations apart from the usual crappy (and aslo expensive) main stealer touch up sticks?

Race Blue not available at Halfruads i notice. :wall:

Main dealer touchup kits are not that expensive, compared to the poor quality paints you find in Halfords.

However, I got a touchup kit for my old Superb and my current Audi from "The Scratch Doctor" on ebay. Pretty good colour match as well, comes with everything you need.

Maybe your local Motor Factor does Paint Mixing and can do good colours and quality paint at a fraction of the costs in the link.

Take the code from the vehicles sticker to get the paint mixed, do not go by the Colour name.

A darning needle, needle, pin or cocktail stick for applying the well shaken paint after de-waxing the surface.

Last time I bought a touch up kit from the dealer about 2 years ago it was £6.....ish so not too expensive.

Only just spotted this thread...

I bought a Chipex kit for my Candy White Superb. Can't say I'm impressed to be honest. The colour match is slightly off (white with a hint of yellow) and the technique seems to remove most of the paint I've put into the chips even if I'm very careful.

I'll be giving it another go when the weather improves to see if it's user error.

At about 40 quid it wasn't cheap either.

Likewise, have heard some poor reports on the CHipex stuff.

As george has said, use a fine needle or cocktail stick and build the paint up in layers, don't expect to fill it on the first attempt.

Cheers lads. I'll save my dosh and go down the main stealer paint and cocktail stick route then.

I bought some mixed on site touch up from halfords. Used it to sea somel deep stone scratches I got at the weekend on the.M5 to stop any rust before I get them sorted and the paint match is carp (race blue met) ramg the dealers and Skoda OE is a tenner so I'll be getting some for when I get some smaller chips once the councils start the usual tar and chippings cheap fixes.

I've found that Fixachip is a much better match than Chipex

Price isn't bad either.

What's it like to apply?

No problem. I use a cocktail stick and a plastic bottle cap. None of these paints last that long and need to be used fresh. After a month it will start to go off. A magnifier makes it easy to see what you're doing.

I put a small amount in a bottle cap and use the cocktail stick to put a small drop in the chip. With practice, the drop will fill the hole at very slightly above the level where the paint meets the lacquer. The paint will shrink very slightly. Repeat for the lacquer.

Some people mix the paint/lacquer together and do it in one go.
