NEW OCTAVIA Mk2 vRS - THIS YEAR CONFIRMED

Featured Replies

Have spoken to Skoda UK and they have replied:

"There are plans to launch the new Octavia in the vRS format and we are expecting this to be available to order from the end of this year. We are still awaiting confirmation from the factory regarding the vehicle specifications and a confirmed launch date."

Still pretty much what we all already know but least its confirmed rumours... there will be one.

I'm glad they are not vague about anything ;)

if it is coming out at the end of the year seems funny that they are keeping it so secret. Usually with new cars, you get some spy shots well ahead of the launch date. (New Furby pics for example-or are they just made up)

derek

I've heard that Skoda Ireland may have a picture of the new RS, but its only a rumour. I'll have to investigate further.

Cancel whatever it was you were thinking of buying! Here at last are the exclusive spy photos which confirm that a well known car maker is planning to launch a new model which will shake up whichever segment it will compete in. The new car is already being described by company insiders as "radical" since it combines elements from a couple of other existing types of car that most people were probably happy with as they were.

The new car is believed to use a well-proven range of engines with petrol variants coming from other cars that are already in production and a brand new diesel engine designed in conjunction with another car maker that will include some new technology and will offer class leading levels of torque and/or economy. Meanwhile' date=' the chassis will rely on familiar MacPherson struts up front and rear suspension that is of a new layout that is said to offer some things that are better than previous designs.

Although it's hard to make out precise details from these pictures of a disguised prototype, our sources tell us that the forthcoming model will mark a new design direction for the company and that the interior will feature unusual seats of some sort. With prices around the same as another car that's already on sale, this exciting new car is sure to cause some worried faces at some other car manufacturers when it goes on sale some time in the future.[/quote']

Is there any way of making the picture in sniffpetrol.com bigger ?

Probably old news and I apologise if it is but I asked the same question to my local dealer this morning. Response was the new vRS will be available towards the end of Q4 2005 and will have 2 engine options. Either a 170 bhp diesel or the 200 bhp petrol but will be 2WD only - no plans for a 4x4 option.

  • 2 weeks later...

first post as only just ordered a 55 plate (for sept - hopefully) - according to the broker i am getting my new L&K from - the vrs is going to have the audi TT's 225bhp engine which will be downgraded? to 215bhp - apparently he wont be getting his hands on a load untill January? cheers simon

Downgrading the engine??

Why would they do that??

I know Seat used the older 210bhp varient for a while (like mine) before switching to the 225 (different ecu, possibly different con rods)... seems strange why they would want the Skoda to lag behind so much...

IIRC the 1.8T isnt being used in the Octavia 2, doesnt meet the emission requirements that Skoda have set out.

The 1.8T will struggle to meet future emissions tests I've heard.

I have it on very good authority that it will be the 2.0T FSI 197 bhp as in the Golf V GTI, and the 170 bhp 2.0 16v TDI unit currently in the Passat(?), the latter engine will also be making it way into a Golf GTI PD around the same time as the Octy II vRS comes out.

It's strange that all the people we can talk to or hear from all say different things about what the new vRS will be.

Personally, I have hard of a 2.0 FSI Turbo 240 BHP car. A 170 BHP Diesal as well as a 3.2 4WD V6.

Dont you think its about time we stopped these threads? We know a new vRS is coming. We know its the end of the year. We dont know what it will be. We know Skoda aint telling, yet.

Sorry for the RANT, but its every other day a new "Skoda is releasing a new vRS" thread appears in this forum. How many more?
