Drivers door window switches controlling wrong windows

Featured Replies

We have a 2003 Fabia Silverline. A few days ago the front passenger used their window switch to lower the passenger window. They lowered it too far, and was raising it again when I tried to lower the drivers side window using the RH switch on the drivers door. The driver window didn't move, but the passenger one started going down again. After that, for the rest of that journey, the two switches on the driver's door operated the wrong windows! Passenger side switch controlled the passenger side window as normal, but on the drivers side the right-most switch operated the passenger window, and vice-versa. The 2nd stage press for auto up / down did the same. On the next journey (car sat turned off for a few hours in between) they swapped back again and have worked perfectly ever since.

Anyone seen this before? Any clue what / why it happened?

Mine does this sometimes - not sure why. I also find that the electric mirror controls reverse at the same time, and the door lock switch reverses.

It fixes itself if I push the pop locks in on the door then unlock using the switch, give this a go next time.

My thoughts are it could just be some moisture getting into the wiring, but I've never had it checked.

Check the wires in the front door hinges ;).. chances are a couple have frayed and are touching :)

Mine did this when they got wet, been fine since. Leave your windows open a little bit and park it in the sun, should dry out.
