Rear arch pulling/rolling

Featured Replies

Calling the guys who have there rear arches pulled. Now seeing as the rear arches dont have a lip im guessing its arch pulling im after, i want them pulled slightly to be able to go lower as i took my rear as low as i go and it rubbed slightly on my new wheels. Basicly does it split the paint on the arches or is this only on extreme flaring?

Oh yes people who dont like this sort of thing please feel free not to give the stereo typical responses.

Thanks.

Are you running camber shims?

Would be a better idea as you'll fluff your paint up

Thought about camber shims but not 100% taken by them mainly as i don't no much about them. Thought i might chew through tyres with camber. Think i will have to look into them and ask a few who use them for there input. Cheers.

Id run the camber -1.0 degree should work for you!

Eibach do them iirc

I had my rear arches rolled + pulled.. the paint did crack although it didnt look too bad in the pics.. before painting they needed a fair bit of work to get them looking presentable..

I think if I were going to the effort of arches/smoothing/priming/painting, I would look into some kind of arch extension kit - a bit meatier, and just weld them on, cutting away the original metal of the arch. :)

Probably not going as far as WRC style, but something halfway between that, and the above. :)

A wheel arch roller might be able to flare the arch slightly, using a heat gun at the same time might stop paint cracking?

Thats what was used on mine.. i didnt do them myself but was told theres abit of an art to it.. it can be quite easy to get a wobbly curve instead of a nice smooth curve.. the trick is to change the adjustment very slightly each time

Camber shims far cheaper by the looks of that!

Or fit some sensible wheels

Cheers jase and matt. Might try the camber shims first as the cheaper option. Might look into flaring them if i end up getting resprayed.

£23 on ebay

Relatively straight forward to fit

Search eibach shims

i need to get this done too ideally now i have 9j poke

Sorry couldn't help but notice. The rear wheel in the last pic (hope I've quoted the correct one on my phone lol) is on the wrong side.

Was it a trial fitting? (Front wheel is on but I can't see the tyre tread on that)

have you fitted them or planning to?

They are fitted Joe I haven't gone too mad with the camber though just a subtle bit of camber. If that makes sense.

Right just had a read of the guide again and it says I have to replace the centre hub nut as it cannot be used twice. Is this true?

If u go by the book then yes ;)

Not expensive anyway bud

Just done them with new discs and pads. Cant really tell that much with 1.5 shims. Not enough to make a difference to lower more I dont think.

When rolling arches warm the paint up on the arch with a heat gun and that should stop it cracking the paint and shouldn't cause any problums if done like that :)

Thanks joe.. uv made my mind up to go the full 1.5º.. :)

Oh + get sum b4 and after pics ;)
