Constantly dirty exhaust tip problem SOLVED!

Featured Replies

Well, after getting fed up of constantly having to polish the end of the exhaust, and finding it minging again after putting my foot down just 1 time, I decided to take extreme action!

Here is my solution....

I was having a load of parts professionally powdercoated for my motorbike rebuild, and decided to get the tip of my Piper system done also. I thought it would be different, but look awesome! Indeed I believe I was correct in that assumption!! I think it looks awesome, and is practical and subtle as you like :-)

I have Octavia Spiders on the way this week hopefully, so they're getting powdercoated gloss black to keep with the red/black theme.

Even the guy at the powdercoaters was chuffed with the results! He thinks I may start a local trend ha ha!

It looks ok but... I think you can only get away with it on a red car. Won't look right on a silver or black vrs.

Would look great on a yellow car

Looks good Alex! Haven't seen you on here for a while, I thought you'd sold the car!

Who's doing the powder coating, a bloke in Oswestry does it for £25 a wheel any size. One of mine needs re-doing but I don't fancy rolling around on a steely lol

£25? Bargain. Including tyre removal/fitting and shot blasting?

He does the powder coating at his house but during the day he works at a place that does shot blasting etc so you get it cheaper through him and one of his mates works in a tyre place and also does a deal on removal / fitting of tyres.

I suggested a tyres machiene to him and he's looking to buy one soon :)

Hi Dan!

Cheers mate! No definitely not sold it!! Just been very busy lately, so haven't really had any time to come on here... You know how it is!

I'm getting the work done by The Wheel Restorer. He did my motorbike alloys for me last year, & his work is absolutely stunning without question! His prices are high (£300 for the bare Spiders to be refurbed), but it is more than worth it for the end result!

If you want an actual alloy to roll round on whilst yours is done, then you're more than welcome to borrow one of mine in a few weeks once the Spiders are done and on.

Can't wait to get them done - very excited! Car is in the bodyshop next month too. Spent a bit of money on little bits lately - just bought brand new Skoda badges front and rear, & all new centre caps. Purchased tyres for the Spiders last night - I've opted for Yoko Parada's again. Safe to say I'm getting a wee bit excited now!!

Reminds me of the original exhaust tip on my MK2 Astra GTE. Didn't last long though as a Sebring stainless stell jobbie went on.

Did try this last September by using high temp paint

It also comes off with wire wool if you change your mind
