Hi can anyone tell me if an 06 2.0 tdi , dsg , L&K estate would come with xenons. It has headlight washers but no xenons was wondering if maybe had afront end bump and repairer had not put xenons back .

Does it have a manual level adjustment by the headlight switch?

Not very likely, IIRC it was 07MY that got Xenons, so would be a 57 plate.

Easy way of telling is if there is a manual headlight range adjuster, if there is it didn't have Xenons. Mine is a 06MY L&K and doesn't have Xenons but does have washers.

If it has an Aux in socket in the jumbo box it is probably a 07MY.

I agree. I think an 06 L&K would not have had Xenons as standard.

They were an optional extra though (my early 2006 L&K has them).

Mt 56 doesn't have xenons, but does have an aux socket in the jumbo box.

With a stream mp3?

Mine is a 2006 but does not have the aux in for the mp3...no zenons...best way to look at the 2006 spec is an elegance with leather seats plus the driver memory seat.

Mine has auto dimming wing mirrors but sure the elegance does not have these. My 2004 elegance only had the rear dimming mirror, however could be wrong?

My later model only has auto dim on the internal mirror. Were some of these items possibly optional??

Did the build look up thing online and it did not mention them. Only really noticed as they have a black rubber ring round the glass, presume that is part of the system?

Yes definite bonus. The interior dim facility is excellent so I imagine the exterior dim would be also.

Likewise, I thought the dimming exterior mirrors were standard on all L&K models.

Mmmm not apparent on my 08 if it is.... whereas obvious on internal mirror. There's no obvious wiring either, the wires there are seem to run only to the adjustment motors and heating elements.

Curious.....maybe they dropped them in later years to cost cut.

Unless it was simply clever glass for the exterior, and not electrics, and mine were replaced with the wrong grass prior to purchase due to a bump or delamination etc....

The external mirror auto dimming is linked to the operation of the interior mirror.....they don't dim when you switch the system off using the switch on the internal mirror, and they dim at the same time as the internal mirror, so they are definitely electronic.

Might be worth investigating if your car has, like you say, had mirror glass replacement for some reason. Let's face it, it's exactly the kind of thing a garage would do when preparing a car for sale....I imagine the dimming external mirror glass is considerably more expensive than standard mirror glass.

I don't have any wiring in my mirror unit in my case. And interestingly there's 1 spare unused pin from the door controller so it might be retrofitted I guess.

Xenon's were a cost option on the L&K pre-2007.

Standard from sometime in 2007.

Bizarrely they were standard on the mk1 like in 2003
