Which remap for a vrs with a (new) standard clutch, discuss....

Featured Replies

Im after getting a remap of around 160/170hp, what do you guru's think would be the best one to go for?? thanks

There are a few firms on here.

In particular Shark and Jabbasport seem to get very good reviews.

Both have approved firms doing their remaps if you can't get to either.

aaah looks good to me :) does anyone know if revo are any good??

Revo are quite brutal so may kill a stock clutch

I used Revo for 30k on the standard clutch and it was great. Wasnt spikey like people say either. Id recommend them.

Ahhh mixed opinions then, anyone heard of/recommend torque tuning??

You're best of staying with main line companies.

What if you go to an unknown garage and get an unknown map and its terrible?

Do it properly, do it once :)

R TECH!

I've had a 170bhp Revo remap on my Fabia VRS for three years over 40k miles and its excellent loads of torque bigger spread of power good mpg and less smoke... what more would you want...

I did R-tech and they were spot on!

I think people use the main companies because people talk about them a lot on here and forget about the smaller independent companies so you end up paying an extreme amount of money which can be done at a fraction of the cost 'if' you find a good company outside of what forum members speak of. I got mine done from a company I had heard a lot of on other forums but not many people talk of it on here, by no means did i go for it at the cheap price ( of just £200) but because it was a custom map to my engine and not a generic map. Its called Big fish tuning in stokesly, the map is extremely smooth and gained a lot of torque and power considering my engine is pretty much standard, extremely happy with how the car performs now compared to how it used too and even my dad with his 360bhp Subaru loves how well my car pulls.. here's the graph... epehu4u4.jpg

Tom, do you have a standard clutch. If so has there been any problems with it?

yes I have a standard Clutch, only problem I have is in higher gears when I put my foot down below 2.5k revs, otherwise I drive the car as I did without the remap, 1st,2nd,3rd and 4th no clutch slip mainly 5th and 6th but as I say that's only at low revs when the torque spikes, other than that the map is excellent.

An right, sound. This sounds fairly reasonable to some of the the stories I've read lol. When you say drive it as you would standard, does that mean pretty hard through 1st,2nd,3rd. I've been advised not to get it mapped cos I have quite minimal mechanical sympathy n it would just ruin my clutch.

Well put it it this way, I like to plant my foot when I see a nice car in my mirror lol. 3rd gear at really low revs like 2k when you slam your foot down you can hear the DMF crying but the clutch won't slip, only in 4th,5th and 6th will it slip, and if your driving properly you'll be in to higher rev band to make the clutch slip by the time your in 4th anyways.

I was thinking R Tech but after going over to Jabbasport to get my polybushes I'm quite tempted to get a custom map there.

Once my head gasket is sorted anyway......

Ive got a superchips remap, runs 170bhp and 300lbft

Superchips are known for being milder than others but the map is beautifully smooth, and i have a standard clutch.

Runs sweet as.
