Yeti 170 TDI now with DSG option

Featured Replies

MY2014 changes - Yeti now with 170BHP TDI and DSG.

No mention of the facelift yet so I guess it is coming a bit later in the year.

I wonder if it's got the newer gearbox?

(rather than the unconomical 6 speed)

I doubt it as even the new Octavia still has the 6-speed DSG. The Octavia vRS model is also reported to be coming with the 6-speed.

Where's your info from RapidRonnie? I'd perhaps expect the CR170 to be available with DSG on the (yet to be announced) facelift model, especially as Skoda have announced that Superb 4x4 will also be available with this combination.

The Superb has the 6 speed with this combo so I expect the Yeti will be the same. I don't think the 7 speed can take the torque?

Not to mention the 1.8 DSG, which I would have bought for the wife if they did it in the UK. But they don't.

With the mileage I do (and where I do it) I want a 1,8 DSG. How many of us need to email SUK for them to start thinking about it? We should start doing that then.

Because of low annual mileage (8K?) and a preponderance of short journeys, diesel isn't for us. But the diesel+DSG gives us 2000Kg for the caravan. Seems the 1.8 is rated at 1,800Kg - would the addition of DSG change this?

Think the person/s that deals with such things at SUK permanently wear welding goggles and flight line level ear defenders; what we can't see or hear cannot effect our policies or procedures approach

I want a 1,8 DSG.

And another vote (at least if a 2.0 petrol DSG isn't on offer). But the CO2 of the existing 1.8 needs also to be cut a little.

Would Skoda in Czecho be any better a target?

The latest 7 speed box as used by Audi & VW can take the torque, but suspect it is a wet clutch box again. It is not the same as the limited torque DSG found in lower torque models.

Not fussed about the DSG but I was rather hoping the facelift would bring the 181 diesel to replace the 170 ... my dealer thought this would be the case. Does this announcement put that in doubt?

Which year? May 2015 is my guess.

Anyone for a sweepstake? ;)

It will be this year for sure.

The rumour would carry a lot more credibility if you could quote a source - ideally an online one. Otherwise it's not much different to 1001 other speculations that we see here - might be true, might not, but who's to say?

It is generally reported in several motoring magazines that the Yeti facelift is due "end 2013". I guess this is not a guarantee but the magazines have a good record of accuracy predicting facelifts/new model timescales so is the best we have to go on.

Absolutely, as has been commented on ad infinitum here, but nearly always in the context of front-end remodelling or stretches. This is the first mention I can recall of a new DSG specification. It would be unsurprising though definitely welcome if true, but otherwise it's just one more to add to quite a long list of other unsupported speculations.

Agreed, my dealer says as far as they are concerned front end and tweaks only for the FL and the Autumn of this year.

Isn't that a longitudinal box?

You can bet whatever you like that VAG are working on a transverse DSG that is both stronger and more efficient than the wet 6sp. Right now their gearboxes are both limiting engine torque and raising CO2 figures. Two of the easiest things for consumers to compare for their new car purchases.

What we don't know, is when it'll be ready.

Not unless they fit a longitudinal box to the 2.0 TSI DSG 7 speed Tiguan......

The 280Nm one?

For some strange reason they didn't sell that box here until just now. We got a conventional 6sp auto (not DSG) instead in both diesel and petrol.

I certainly think the 1.8 could use another (7th) gear - it would also be well suited to an auto box, even a triptonic one.

If my experience fo Skoda Cz is anything to go by then NO! All my previous queries have been referred back to VAG UK! Yes that's not a mistake VAG UK it was.

No.

They have another gearbox as I mentioned above. Skoda have not yet been given it to use.

It is used in the 2,0tDi and TSI Tiguans and probably is a few other vehicles as well. Audi use it in their Q3 in the 2.0tdi DSG. And it can be used with stop/start.

The 280Nm was referring to the 2.0tsi engine. I wasn't referring to their lightweight 7sp DSG which can only take 250Nm.

That tiguan seems to have never been offered with the 6sp DSG, which makes me wonder if fitment is different.
