Guess what's parked outside work? ;)

I hate nodding off in the evening, makes for a very annoying "wide awake during the night" phase :(

Anyway, a further point to add to this - the trip DOES calculate MPG when the throttle isn't applied, if you don't have stop/start you can sit and watch the average consumption slowly decrease as you're sat at traffic lights waiting for them to change ;-)

If your display is showing --.- then I'm going to guess that you've got the "consumption" being displayed as opposed to Av. consumption ? The live consumption I find to be pretty much useless personally, it updates too frequently to be of any real practical value, one second you can be doing 50+ mpg on a slight descent and then hit a slight incline and it will fall off a cliff.

Fuelly. Com is great at working all this out for you

Simple - miles done on tank divide by litres filled up x 4.54 = mpg :)

It will register blank as some have said if the numbers can't go high enough - you may be doing 200mpg! Mine shows 200mpg though...

I don't have any confidence in that average MPG figure on the display. I have a new SEAT Toledo and I noticed that when coasting downhill on the over-run that the instant MPG display just went blank..... as in "--.-". In other words it's not registering the mileage on the over-run. It's only clocking the MPG when the accelerator is applied. That's wrong. It should be working it out under ALL conditions, including the over-run.

If that was the case though then the average would actually be under-reading I think?

I thought modern cars actually didn't use any fuel when coasting above a certain rpm?

For sure the most accurate way to do it is as you suggest. Most cars aren't bang on with the calculation but when I did a quick calculation in my head last time I filled up the Rapid it was within a couple of MPG.

Comp on mine after driving in to work this morning claimed 53.6 mpg, but I was really trying to get that, 60 mph behind lorries etc.

Range is showing as 430 miles left yet so it might be next week before I need to fill up again and compare the brim to brim to the comp

So you'd be happy with this then?

( I found a nice lorry to follow along the M56 on the way home :giggle: )

I must remember to set the clock right as well, it's 20 minutes fast

I'm happy with my current average on the tank at 37mpg :)

If I can get 350-400 miles out of a tank of town work and short journeys ill be pleased!

Yeah that sounds good, to be fair I reckon about 80% of my commute is motorway, with a decent chunk of dual carriageway in the other 20 so I was always likely to get some good returns when I really try I suppose.

I filled mine up when I first got it, done 120 miles so far and used a quarter. This is very short trips here and there which is superb.

Currently well jel!

Still another 10 weeks of banging my head against the proverbial brick wall. Like a clueless donkey chasing after a floating carrot. Like Andy Williams naively pursuing the impossible dream. Like a spiritless painter painting the Forth bridge. Like a tower crane driver longing to see the end of his shift.

Basically, I want my bloody Rapid pls!

You'll be like a kid at Christmas the night before you go to pick it up :-)

Just filled up ahead of a long-ish drive tomorrow, 465.6 miles, 40.95 litres to fill back up = 51.6 MPG across the tank. Not bad that, could beat that this time around too.

Not bad. I'm on course for 400 miles from this tank.

Like for like driving this is a lot more frugal than the vrs I had, even if I am down on power.

I'm enjoying the power out of mine, so I can only assume the mk2 vrs is an absolute hoot to drive :-)
