Just ordered a Yeti 1.2 DSG

Featured Replies

Hello to all you Yeti fan :)

I just joined the forum and it was the only forum I found talking about Yeti.

I live in Denmark and here there are not many Yeti's around.

I really would love to hear from others, that have a Yeti 1.2 DSG. What is your experince

I did have a test drive, before I ordered it, and I liked it very much, even with that small engine, it was doing a very good job.

I'm going to use it mostly city and highway driving, and we only have small hills, so I'm not too concerned, abou if the engine is to small.

I would enjoy any feedback, and hope I made a good decision with the Yeti 1.2 dsg, currently I have a VW Golf 2.0 with a 4 speed Automatic, so I hope to get a better fuel economy.

Thank you all

regards

Jens

Hi Jens, and welcome to the forum. I'm sure the 1.2 guys and gals will be along shortly to help you - they love talking about these tiny engines :peek: Don't forget the 'Search' function, too

Most of the earlier problems appear to have been well sorted. (turbo (limp mode, loss of power),

various software updates, snatchy take off from low speed etc).

If you search on forum a lot of components have been updated/modified so you should be in

for a good experience by now!!!

Quite a punchy little beast even fully loaded and DSG is smooth and efficient.

Most members report 39-41 MPG (same as manual gearbox) if I recall correctly although

swiftly drops above the mid 60's MPH to around 35 MPG.

Enjoy!

Hi Jens,

Yes the 1.2 engine is a little gem, I have the manual 6 speed so can't really comment on the DSG, I'm sure the guys and gals with that combo will be along shortly!

And welcome to the 'Yetigang' :)

Hello, and welcome to the forum.

I can't really comment yet as so far, like you, I've only had the benefit of a test drive, but if all goes to plan I'm due to collect my 1.2 DSG next Saturday.

Hi, welcome!

I've had my 1.2 for a month now and can say the engine is fantastic! For general road/ motorway driving it's lacking nothing, even going up the mountain roads near here it's fine. If you need to tow something large then maybe think about a larger engine, otherwise don't worry - if it didn't say 1.2 you would never guess!

Hi, and welcome to the Yeti forum. There are some very friendly, helpful folks on here.

Sure beats the Apple iPhone/iPad forums I usually frequent. Tech forums can be very nasty!

I have been looking for a 1.2 DSG for some months but there are none available

if you're looking for an SE or Elegance spec in a decent colour with preferably a sunroof.

Hate the idea of ordering a new one and then waiting months for delivery whilst

wondering if I've ordered the right spec etc. Much prefer to buy what I can see and touch.

What are delivery times like in Denmark?

hi thanks for all the reply's so far.

about the delivery time, I ordered the car 1st of marts and was told it would be ready mid may, but I doubt that now, i think or more hope

that it will arrive sometime in june, I don't have a fixed date yet for delivery time.

I ordred a version called Adventure, the thing I really think is bad about it, is that it only have a "Blues" radio.

I am sure you will be delighted with the 1.2 DSG, I have had mine for 12 months now and it has exceeded expectations. Smooth, quiet and gear changes imperceptible; plenty of power for normal driving but, of course, performance drops off over 70 MPH. I am getting a true overall average of 41 MPG, that drops to 37-38 at 70+ MPH into a head wind but on A and B roads easily gets 43 - 44 MPG; I have seen 50 MPG on quiet country roads but realistically expect 40 MPG and you won't be disappointed.

Performance is more than adequate and the DSG box is superb, there have been complaints that it can be hesitant when entering roudabouts etc. but I can't say I have encountered that problem at all, maybe because my car is 2012 model and the problems have been cured.

Great car, easy to drive, good driving position, economical and fun.

I know what you mean, Mine's been on order since January, although I've only adjusted the spec once since then. The other wobble-moment is when they bring out a new brochure after your car's been built but before it's been delivered, and you start wondering what you goodies have become available that you've missed out on. I was relieved to find that it was basically just the MDI (which I'm having dealer-fitted anyway); the main reason for the new brochure seems to be the inclusion of the L+K version.

I didn't have to wait as long as some, only about 5 months for mine back in 2010, but I changed the order and colours and ended up with almost every option ticked.

A bit tough on the pocket but I have no regrets after almost 27 months.

A TapaTalk enabled phone was used to write this...

I bought mine here in France, I chose the 1.2 Adventure also, but here it comes with the Bolero and bluetooth option (plus a lot of other nice options) - have a look at the photos I posted, I'd be interested to know if the Danish Adventure is different to the French Adventure.

Mine was 8 weeks from ordering it to picking it up at the dealers by the way. A fantastic car :-)

Looks the same as my Adventure - you might want to check again with your dealer about the Bolero - can't see why the spec would be different where you are....

Hi

It is pretty good equiped beside the blues radio

just cheked about the Bolero and it cost about 1000 euro extra including 6 cd changeser (but who use cds today?)

some of the extra in the adventure here is:

climatronic- 2 zone with AQS

electri windows in the back

fog head lights

17" wheel Matterhorn 225/50 r17

rain censor

cruise control

park censor back

leather steeringwheel

toned back windows

4 speakers in the back

I'm sure that you guys get alot more for the money, here in DK we have a totally crazy unfair tax system when it comes to cars.

Pretty much the same specification, with auto lights and leather handbrake/gearlever, folding mirrors, and the bolero and bluetooth. I had a spare wheel, roof bars, mudflaps, removable tow bar and black roof/ mirrors and paid 21,000 euros including registration and taxes. The "cornering" fogs are a nice feature :-)
