Hi everyone

I've got water entering into the rear drivers side footwell of my mkI Octavia. I know this has been well-documented before but the syptoms people describe are a) mostly written, and quite vague. Therefore the advice given is just as vague.

I am the most amateur of DIY mechanics but try my best. I have got a load of photos to show my problem. Your advice needs to be simple to follow that a monkey could have a go.

My old Mk1 Octy Vrs had water ingress in the front and rear passenger footwells, it turned out to be; door seals, door card seals and pollen filter seal. I got it diagnosed and fixed at Skoda for £415 last year May.

It could be coming in from a few places,to be perfectly honest I would remove the interior and take the carpet out,it will need dried anyway along with the sound proofing,dry it all up and get in the car and get someone to give it a good soaking with a hose and see if you can see where it's coming in,I've had my Octavia 6 years and in that time I've fixed a few water leaks on it,fixed one last weekend,passenger side of boot was wet,where cd changer usually sits,got my m8 to soak it,it seemed to be coming from where the boot strut bolts on,removed strut from bolt,removed the bolt and applied some sealer,refitted it and let sealer cure,soaked it again still continued to leak,same place but its hard to see up there,it's like a channel,anyway out of desperation I sealed all around boot hinge area and around where quarter panel is welded,anyway I'm glad to say I fixed my leak but the Octavia seems to be quite prone to water leaks,apart from that I love the car.
