If we can't get 1,8 DSG Yeti maybe a new 4x4 Octavia 1,8 DSG will do?

Featured Replies

Just wondering which car is more fun to drive: Yeti 1.8TSI 4x4 DSG or the Octavia III Estate 1.8TSI 4x4 DSG. Any thoughts?

And the next bit: In Norway we can have the Octavia III Estate with a 1.8TSI engine and choose between 4x4 with 6-speed DSG or 4x2 with 7-speed DSG. I wonder which DSG version makes a better combination with the 1.8TSI engine?

Once you're getting into the £25k-£30k sector, presumably you have sufficient funds not to worry TOO much about the overall cost (and p/x is usually better against a dearer car). What is important the

I would think that the taller body, higher ground clearance and overall higher centre of gravity of the Yeti makes it more prone to body roll in the corners compared to the Octavia.

Got to say that my yeti has very little body role when cornering.

There is very little body roll in the Yeti, even with those facts.

I'm guessing you haven't driven a Yeti? They handle much better than people think they should and it is surprisingly easy to embarrass other drivers.

I wish we had the choice in the UK.

The 7 speed is more economical, but I think the 6 speed is a better unit and can handle more torque.

I did in fact test drive two Yetis last year (a 2.0TDI with 6-speed DSG and a 1.2TSI with the 7-speed DSG) and a few weeks back I did a long test drive of an Octavia III hatchback with the 1.8TSI engine with 7-speed DSG. So the Octavia's impression is quite fresh in my mind and I remember it being pretty enjoyable to drive on twisty roads and it was a quiet and comfortable cruiser on the motorway too. If I had driven a Yeti back to back with the Octavia I would have better grounds for comparison. I do however remember that the steering response of the Yeti was pretty enjoyable.
