SKODA rns 510 columbus for sale

Featured Replies

hey guys,

got a skoda RNS 510 Columbus for sale, has been my trusty unit since 2011, was installed on my 06 2.0tdi pd Octavia, the car is gone now both the new cars come loaded with tech so have no need for this Columbus anymore. I have some numbers from the back of the unit regarding version and software as follows.

1Z0 035 680 A

SW 1004

S 03.07.2008

iam looking for £420 for it excluding shipping or can be picked up in person, which as far as I think is the lowest I have seen, or if anyone out there has a VW RNS 315 I can consider a swap.

I have taken photos of the unit and the label on it so that you all can see for yourself, everything works as it should and it s a very clean unit, a little scratch on the bottom of the screen never noticeable when on but still I have tried taking a picture of it so it can be seen.

it has got the radio fakra adopter line that I bought for it on ebay from Poland, also has the GPS module a fascia for a non climatronic pre FL Octavia if needed.

any questions please ask ill be happy to help, and ill try to get it reset to factory setting before sale.

Hi, does this do full 7 digit postcodes? I'm sure it's on the form somewhere, but easier to ask (sorry for being lazy!)

no doesn't do 7 digit postcode but I think that's down to the map version, I never upgraded it caz I had an old can bus on my car and would have caused battery drain.

£400 now if anyone is interested or swap with vw rns 315 unit

I'd take this right away if I knew for definite it could be updated without bricking it :(

edit: I tell a lie - I need a 3TO apparently, not a 1ZO :(

good luck with the sale though :)

Firmware update on a 1zo will turn it into a 3to

Offer of £350 here posted as they're going for not much more than this on eBay and after fees you probably end up worse off.

sorry mate, I did see your message a few days back, was scouring the net and doing my homework regards to updating, I am afraid iam still non the wiser, people seem to have done it and the original version also seems to work in newer models but as my new jetta comes with a kenwood I cant even connect the Columbus to it to try an update even if I did have the know how (the kenwood wiring has completely made the quadlock inaccessible).

i will let it go for 350 if that helps towards your goal.

apologies for the late response again, and thanks for the bump

regards

Sorry I'm sure this has been asked a million times but how easy is it to upgrade the firmware? I have seen a lot of dealers offer to update the maps FOC if you don't need to keep the disks but not so sure on firmware.

its ok that seems to be big question, I have chatted to some techs and yes all A B C versions can be updated and V2760 seems to be the safest and best option, I have now got the software for update to V2760 and will try it as soon as I connect it into a car, the maps are the easy bit as you can find latest map disks for around 20 quid or so.

I'd be very interested in this IF it was loaded with the firmware that offers full 7 digit and it was a straight swap over with my bolero.

ill be updating tomorrow hopefully to 2760 firmware, the hardware itself is always a straight swap with a bolero, or stream, I have tried that already.

7 digit postcode would be a result of map update or maybe firmware update should do, I don't have any knowledge of that.

Maps v7 or higher in conjunction with that firmware will give 7 digit postcode searching I believe.

no that's a map update, dealer can do it or ill probably attempt it.

UPDATE:/ the Columbus has now got the 2764 firmware and latest west Europe map with full post code search, speed camera alert and traffic light camera alerts.

Just wanted to give a final bump before I stick it on eBay

First time i've seen a Columbus struggle to sell.

These are a great unit and this is a good price. All the updates are done so as long as you have a L or later can you wont have any issues with battery drain and its plug and play.

If your thinking of upgrading do it, you wont regret it. I should know if done it in both my cars

cheers for the bump mate, I think everyone is waiting for the update which enables the Columbus to pay for diesel :giggle:
