Why the call them "spy" photos?

A set of much better and clearer photos could be taken as the photographer was not trespassing.

Just done a search on the Net and the photos in post1 are from a Blog on Indian Auto,s Blog.It goes into a lot more detail. saying that it is a "test mule" being used in China for developement for the next Gen of "Chinese market Yeti".I deduce from that descripition it is a LWB model specificly for that countries home market.

The rear mounted wheel looks very much like a decoy. The handle appears to be a sticker and it cannot hinge sideways, as you can see by the curve in the bumper on the right, it would be crushed if you hinged the door.

Most spy shots are "invited" these days in a similar fashion to pics of celebs in magazines.

All part of the pr machine to drum up pre orders and use the public to finalise engine and trim choices based on feedback to exclusive rumours from secret insiders.

Nothing presumably to preclude the same front-end treatment being used on a SWB Yeti, so it's an interesting possibility. But, yes, all futile speculation until firmer information becomes available.

Interesting mule. Most clues are disguised (as is the norm) like the B pillar being black and the D being body colour. The spare wheel is fake for sure for the reasons pointed out earlier. But look beyond that. It is clear there is no round fog lamps out front (the round miniature thing visible is a sticker), you can see the new grille and headlight shape (even though the latter has two corners under tape), the new front lower bumper with three "vents" as well as a new partly painted rear bumper with a sort of mustache above the silver lower bit. But most interesting is the shape of that rear bumper on the side. It curls up from the rear fender to form a line with the rear lights... look at an existing Yeti's rear bumper line - it is straight with those stupid little body colour panels over the bumper bolts under the lights:

Then look at the spy shot:

So either the new bumper upper bolts are again hidden under a tiny body colour panel or the lights are going to get larger. It also means the entire side body pressing changing... which makes me think these lines are also just stickers, since the panel gap of these look a bit on the non-VAG side!

That isn't bad, but it is a shame the person who worked on the rendition couldn't have put a better wheel and tyre on the partly hidden front! And the interior is very "false".

Still keeps the Yeti "design concept" though.

You have no idea how hard it is to design and replicate a model into a 3d environment! Without plenty of training this is a pretty good attempt, I don't think its really a different design it could just be someone putting their own style to the model itself.

And I do know a little about Photoshop, since daughter2 did a photograhy HND recently, and daughter1 is currently doing a Graphics Course at Worcester Uni and has just been offered a Masters Course there.

1 year, and we think it will be specialising in legal street art, as she does that as a small business on the side to supplement her student finances as a mature student.

Agreed that the rear hatch cannot hinge sideways because of the curve in the bumper. However the rear view picture shows that they have moved the place to mount the number plate from the rear hatch to the bumper. If there isn't any plan for a spare wheel on the rear hatch it would leave a large blank area there.

I don't claim that the Yeti is beautiful, but it is distinctive while so many are identikit -just looked at a Sportage but could you tell it apart from a dozen others?

I like a quirky looking vehicle-rather not have a bland one.
