Just a heads up incase some of you are looking at the purchase of the new Octy 3 in the near future. Ive noticed that Drive the deal have started listing the new Octavia 3 - and the savings look pretty good, especially considering its such a new model. £3300 off the standard 2.0tdi Elegance and £3,900 off the spec I put to my local dealer last week! Theres a minimum of £2250 off the most basic 1.2tsi S and over £2,500 off the basic diesels. :)

Good find. Are they, like car file, just acting as an agent for dealers?

I knew this would happen once I put pen to paper :wall:

Still got a pretty good deal through carfile so i'm still relatively happy

Phew...I was nearly worried there but having put my exact spec in came in as the same price as I got from my dealer. Still it provides more leverage to those whose dealers aren't offering decent discounts.

From experience, you're never going to get the best deal, financially, buying so early on in the new model life. As long as you were happy with the deal when you placed the order then thats all that matters. Ive now decided to hold out until the later parts of this year before I get an order in. IM pretty sure the deal will be sweeter and I'll have a few more options to choose from regarding equipment and drivetrains :) And I whole heartedly agree in having the broker prices already offering £2250 - £4000 off is good for the dealer negotiations. :)

Those drive the deal prices aren't any better than what Carfile were offering when I ordered in Feb, so you should have got the same deal. Remember the drive the deal prices already include the £500 discount for taking out Skoda finance.

My local dealer did not offer any discount. As much as I pushed them they would not take a single penny off. I tried a couple of days after, still no discount. They lost my business and I've gone through a broker with the usual huge discount. In kent, no dealer is willing to discount. VW was the same. I don't understand why they can't discount even a small amount!!

They just don't want too its that simple. No discount more profit, bigger bonus, it always comes down to money at the end of the day. The dealers who won't discount will fold, especially in the state the country's in just now.

I thought dealers weren't dealing with brokers as per Skoda?

I don't get the whole 'dealer won't discount' as I've heard that several friends in the past. After I've 'had a go' they seem more than happy to offer the sort of discount that my friends are absolutely over the moon with. I reckon a lot of the dealers just need to know you are very serious and working to a near timeframe for placing the order. I always start with making a call to the 6 closest dealers. Ill tell them exactly what I want priced up and say I'd like the best price they can do within 24hrs as I'm keen to get the order into a local dealer ASAP. I'll usually hold one piece of smaller equipment off the list and ask for it to be added as a freebie once the price has been brought down as much as possible. It also helps knowing the dealers margin he's working to on the particular car. :) The yeti was the car I've had least discount on but usually I'll get between £4,600 - £6800 off using the above method. :)

Glad to see DTD are back with skoda discounts.

However, I dont like the compulsory? financing and when I dialled in a similar spec to the Octavia SE I bought in 2012, the discounted price was still way higher than I paid. (getting on for £2500 more), so it doesnt make me want to consider the new Octavia yet.

I wish Ireland had these websites..:(

Interesting to see this at this stage, but I suppose it's up against quite a lot of competition.

Are you in the market for one as well as the Yeti then Lee?

Im absolutely in the market for an Estate but as of now Im unsure which version exactly. Id have use for the 4x4 version and may even consider going diesel. I'd even consider the Mk3 VRS after being left dissapointed by my mk2 VRS. I'll be looking to test drive it at least and see what equipment comes as standard and can be optioned. The Yeti may get replaced as a result almost purely down to its boot space. We are fortunate enough to have friends in various different countries so we'll usually do a five+ week trip to see them and then perhaps a single week to one of them (Germany or South of France for instance). For the single weeks away, the Yeti is fine in terms of storage. For the whole family doing five weeks away, it struggles tbh but then I guess most cars would. The Octy 3 Estate would probably make the perfect family car for us. :) If I find I just cant part with 'Beti the bulletproof K04 Yeti' then I'll replace our second car with the Octy 3 estate and keep hold of Beti. :)

Would be interesting to know who is supplying DTD now. As per the Yeti forum, over the passed few weeks DTD were not even listing Skodas.

They always did previously but from looking at them regularly, I think Ive worked out that they just take the whole relevant marque off the list when the price update is a model change ie more comprehensive? They are usually slow to then put them back on the list! :(

From memory, DtD used to go through one of the Gordon Lamb dealerships - could be wrong though, and that might well have changed.

They list that "you pay the UK main dealer for the car direct" which doesn't really make sense and is a bit ambiguous!

Is it ambiguous?

Seems fairly straight forward - They are stating that you make payment direct to a dealer not their web site and that dealer is a UK Main dealer not an independant.

It's perhaps the wording then. I do understand the process :) It's a case of understanding exactly where the car is sourced from, within the UK.

DriveTheDeal defines it as the UK main dealer, not a UK main dealer.

From that wording, it could be construed that you're paying Skoda UK direct.....

Agree completely.

I have bought a car through Drve-the-Deal in the past. I paid the deposit to DTD and gave the delivery driver a banker's draft for the balance (payable to the main dealer who actually supplied the car) when the car was delivered to my home.

It was very straightforward and saved me a lot of money. Drive-the-Deal seem a good company.

As a sentance on its own I agree it could be mis-leading but when it says...

"Then we’ll place your order with a UK main dealer, who will contact you to introduce themselves."

to follow that with

"You pay the UK main dealer for the car direct."

is fair enough as you have set the context of "the" dealer.

"Ive noticed that Drive the deal have started listing the new Octavia 3 - and the savings look pretty good, especially considering its such a new model."

Can't see Skoda listed when I log on to DTD - have you got a link to where you saw this please?

Link as in the thread title! ;) If a marque isnt listed, as mentioned above, it means they are making pricing changes. :)
