So someone explain this to me - I have just been into a dealership to get a quote for the new 2.0 Octy Elegance, and want to trade my existing car into the mix, how do you calculate your trade in on the DtD website ? I used their calculator for the car I wanted which was £3400 off the list price, but had no idea what the figures meant as I had no idea what deposit will be made on the trade in ?

Good point Lee, makes sense. Our website takes an age to update the used car section..... ...... because I have to do it

  • Rachel from Hortons also told me they would aim to match any on-line quote as long as you can produce a print out. Apart from one recent deal on a heavily discounted Yeti, they have not had to turn a

  • Yes, just the same, initial contact with them and then over to a dealer for processing and delivery. The discounts should get better still in the next few months Id wager.

The price on DtD is the price you pay for the car. I believe the supplying dealership will also give you a trade in price for the Yeti, but this is nothing to do with DtD.

Correct me if I'm wrong though chaps.

The only doubt I wold have is yes, the headline discount is very good and great if you have no part exchange, but I would have thought you would get less trade in allowance on these deals as the margins are so tight. The cost to change is the only figure that matters after all.

Yes timotav they offered 6k less on our px !!!!!!!!!

So even though we save extra 2k on new car we lost 6 on px so no god for us

OK so guess what you are saying is that if you want to do a PCP deal with a trade in, you would be better off selling the trade in first, leaving you a deposit to use on the DtD calculator. Timing would obviously be a pain f you have no car until yours is delivered ? So you pick your car up from a Skoda dealership ?? Excuse my ignorance but although ive heard a the name a lot I have never looked into the workings of DtD

Wow that's not good is it ? So back to my last reply DtD is good for cash buyers, but not so good for those who have trade ins to throw into the mix.

I'm guessing the dealers offering the DtD offers are looking for mostly cash deals as they are much simpler and easier for them to process. They can offer more discount as it takes them less to process. They will have their 'normal' sales with trade-ins already so are looking for simple quick sales.

Another option is WeBuyAnyCar which may still end up being cheaper than your local dealer with a trade-in

Carfile prices match DTD and just put you in touch with the dealer where you negotiate the part ex price. You then use the cost to change to go to your local dealer, simples. Hortons in Lincoln matched them straight away. When I was looking at a Superb Westgate in Grimsby again matched it!

Apart from one recent deal on a heavily discounted Yeti, they have not had to turn any other customers away. Not all dealers will do this, Bickerton in Sheff, would only go half way to the deal I got from Hortons. Looks like the only down side to Hortons are their heavily inflated tyres!

  • 2 weeks later...

I have just ordered my new Octy. I am using the same dealer as I purchase my previous one from.

They know me, and know how 'i work', but which I mean if i tell them I am going to buy, then I WILL buy.

Although Drive the deal was looking to be cheaper, I am very much interested in monthly payments.

I told the dealer the price I could get the Elegance for from them and was told (as I was last time) that they could not match the price.

We did some work, and I have ended up with a figure that I am happy with.

I have paid £1000.00 more than DTD, but what that would cost me over 42 months I dont know. What I do know is that it is my local dealer, everybody knows me by name. The service team have bent over backwards on a number of occassions to help me (even when I was using a 3rd party warranty) and to me, if I am paying £10 a month more on finance, so be it.

I am not being flash, and I dont have the money to 'waste'. but my dealer HAS give added value, which I dont think I would get from using DTD - and, although it would probably come from Marlborough, it is an hours drive from me.

£1000 divided by 42 is definitely not £10 a month mate!

But on a pcp, it is not £23.00

Even if it is £15 I am happy to pay that to get the extra service I will receive from knowing the dealership.

But on a pcp, it is not £23.00

Correct, On PCP, £1000 extra for the car is £26.87 a month. Don't forget you also pay interest on that £1000!

On my company lease deal, extras were coming out at approx £2 for every £100 of options. My main reason for picking the Octy was it had by far the best quality / space / power / economy ratio per £ than anything else (the only £ comparable cars were Focus, Astra, c'eed sportswagon, i40 Tourer - all not nearly as good IMHO). I've made a sving of £140pm replacing my Qashqai, so couldnt justify eating into this by adding nice to have extras. 2.0 is definitely worth it over 1.6, as is Elegance over SE, but anything else I couldnt justify to myself
