heat soak

Featured Replies

whats that then?? :confuse:

:P :P :D:D

how are people doing out there in heatsoak land then?

My Octy vRS was suffering from the heat badly yesterday - however I still managed to stick with a convertible 328i from 30 through 90 (km/h obviously - I would not want to speed on public roads ;) ). He looked quite surprised to see a Skoda still on his tail :D:rofl:

How much difference does an fmic make in these temperatures we have been having this weekend?

I had a similar problem the other day. usually a Focus ST170 is not a problem but big heat outside and heat soak galore and he gave me a run for my money. He could not pull away from me and I could not pull away from him. So get on a slow section and light throttle for a while, then comes the dual section and bye bye ST170. roll on winter.

Heatsoak? naa :D

my car seemed a teeny tiny eeny weeny bit down but hardly at all and didn't really make any difference to performance :)

how about yours neo?? did you notice any change at all?

I could actually notice heat soak for the first time. The Furby is totally standard besides the intake + Green Filter, and although I made progress and had 2 passengers the weight of the car wasn't really a factor.

Definitely didnt like it much when I did a few swift overtakes.

The heat coming from the front of the car was scary though. I have a feeling the Pikey mod 1 will probably get done soonish, in a form or another ;)

ok..... im gonna be blonde! what is heatsoak? :o

when its hot the air going into the engine is hotter, hotter air is less dense so the air/fuel mixture is less potent for want of a better word so your engine produces less power.

also when the air is hotter the air/fuel mixture is more likely to detonate early, if this happens the engine drops the power to stop damaging the engine

good effort there neo!!

tbh it doesn't matter what IC you have you'll get heatsoak to some degree its just the bigger/better the IC the smaller the affect.

Several benefits - effect will be less likely to happen. Also, when it does happen it will be gone a lot quicker than with the standard SMIC thing though :)

I'm definitely tempted to go Pikey I mod (or side-vent mod for more policitally correct one). I could call it Cloggy I as I'm Dutch so I'm allowed to say it :D
