N75 Valve

Featured Replies

Anyone changed one of these and would it make much difference to a remapped car?

Don't really know what it does but saw it on another forum and thought I'd ask.

Cheers.

Adrian.

It's the wastegate control valve. The wastegate controls the speed of the turbo (and hence boost) by by-passing some of the exhaust gas around it. The more gas is bypassed, the less goes through the turbo and the less boost there is.

The ECU uses the wastegate to match the actual boost pressure to the value programmed into its "map" for a given engine RPM, throttle opening, etc. It does this by "modulating" the valve; partly opening or closing it to achieve the desired pressure.

I'm no expert on tuning, but I wouldn't have thought there is much to gain by changing it, unless it's faulty.

But the wastegate makes such a cooool sound ;)

It's not funny being lisdexic :(

;)

Lots and lots of Dutch Seat boy racers replace theirs with a N75J, and claim substantial improvements. The N75H is another option. Will dive into this for you guys, and see what their reasoning is.

Someone's found out the reason why I posted this in the first place.

Found the same thing on CupraNet.....suggested the N75 valve from an Audi TT........and @

I know where one of the handbags have gone. ;)

Des

IIRC isnt the upgraded N75 valve they talk about slower/smoother actioning - ie doesnt cut the boost off as quick or smoothes it out or something

Des

where?

I'v tried "ECS Race N75 Valve" on my original unchipped RS. Didnt work at all.

I'll keep it, and try it again when I chip it.

Paul, this the OEM part number: 034906283K.

It's the VAG valve for 300+ hp Audi RS cars.

The ECS Race valve mentioned by Turbo2 is the same as the H valve. It's more prone to overboosts and surging than the J valve.
