Anything you wish your Fabia did?

Featured Replies

a remap on your 1.9 would make it kinda equivelent to the mark I vRS ;) 140bhp anyone?! (do it , doit , do it) :)

I know - I keep thinking about it! I reckon it might be putting out a little bit more than 105 hp already; it definitely feels like one of the strong 'uns, but a remap would no doubt be a revelation. Not too sure there's a reputable remap business close to me though (south Oxfordshire). Also, SHMBO would probably knee me in the boolocks if I spent 300-odd quid on a remap. Cars are low on her priority list and I've already spent too much on treats for my 500 recently.

Back to the first one - my Scirocco had a lovelly "bark" if changing up whilst on boost. I miss that from the Fabia (but the supercharger is more vocal, so swings and roundabouts). It does make a nice noise blipping to match speeds when engine braking though..

Decent headlights for me (Xenons, halogens or Acetylene gas - don't care as long as I can see!)..and the Alcantara from the new Octy would be nice!

Interior door handles do feel a bit flimsy.

At the end of the day, it's built (designed) to a price point. I guess if you want the extra quality/toys, you buy a Polo or A1?

Xenons

Adaptive (radar) cruise control

HID's

Six speed gearbox

Rear discs (Monte)

Less rattles and squeaks

Major quibbles.

1. Non-oil-burning engine.

2. Twenty more HP; 50 kg less weight (and no sand-bagging as standard).

3. Five years' warranty as standard.

Minor quibbles.

1. A little more of the brushed aluminium in the dash/door handle areas.

2. A little more rounding in the styling, even if a couple of inches of headroom are sacrificed (because I had too much time on my hands, I did some measuring and discovered the windscreen on my wife's streamlined Fiesta is 100cm long compared to 75cm in the box-like Fabia). This would probably help fuel economy as well, so it wouldn't be totally against Skoda's traditional practical qualities.

3. Adjustable speed intermittent wipers.

4. A little less roll around bends, whether that requires stiffer/lower springs etc.

5. Choice of manual AND DSG to keep everyone happy.

Odd - UK spec vRS have delay-adjustable intermittent wipers? Small lever on the top of the wiper stalk.?

1. Leather, if it was available as an option I'd snapped it up in no time!

2. NIssan GT-R like in car engine live readouts on a large (10" min) touchscreen display

3. Factory fitted on-the-fly mapping, like in new Octy3

4. 200kg less weight - never going to happen as it would take it our of any sensible price bracket

5. 4x4 drive train with torque vectoring

6. Overboost button

7. Push Start/Stop Button

8. Back seat entertainment system in headrests option - your sanity can be tested on long family trips :D

9. I'd like better sound system but I am affraind I'd be a bit lost on my as I am bit deaf :)

Otherwise peachy :giggle:

I don't get the desire for a pushbutton start apart from a gimmick (or unless you have keyless entry)? Had it on a Civic and a BMW and it seemed daft - put a key in a hole, turn it (for the Civic), then move your hand to a button somewhere else and press it... Why? Your hand is already on the key...

Rant over...

Maybe I've missed it... My last car had a little spinnable dial.

I'll go for things that could be done within the price of a vRS or a little bit more as option

1. Launch Control

2. The E-Diff the new Golf GTI has

3. Leather as an option although I probably wouldn't get it

4. Proper Bi Xenons

5. A more comprehensive system showing boost, cornering and other things. Pretty sure the new Clio RS will have this. Old one had something similar.

6. Bigger paddles

7. Push Start button

8. More power to say 200-220bhp

Paddles are a problem when cornering but I use the stick in such situations, like a proper sequential rally box :D

Maybe they can do a

Maybe if they managed to graft on the PID system from the CitigoMiiUp, a vRS-specific screen (like you can have for revs and temp)? Doable..

^

I use DashCommand on my friendly iOS to get that :)

Yeah really miss a boooost gauge! Always fun to watch that one on the go.

3. Adjustable speed intermittent wipers.

Really? Mine has nothing else on your list but does have 4 different intermittent wiper speeds. Thought it would be a standard feature on the VRs.

A heated windscreen a la Ford's Quickclear system would be nice.

I would really like a DAB radio and I now see that it is an option on the latest Fabia configurator. I wonder if there is any way to retro-fit?

Yeah I've had a couple of these before -awesome bit of kit in the cold weather and for de-misting the screen. All cars should have one!

I had to get to page two for someone to say Launch Control. (While we are talking about gimmicks. haha)

basic one, I wished the front window wash operated a bit quicker! :hi:

That the + / - on the gear lever were the other way round, The octavia could do with swopping also

Probably,it's usually a separate module with an additional aeriel.

It is on the Audis anyway. You'd probably need to code it in via vagcom once added.

I'd love planet rock (where evey song sounds like a razor commercial) in my car.

If anyone has any further info about this I'd be very interested to hear about it!
