Thanks for that, will be hard to resist the 3/4 revs going over the Moors, cracking road if it's quiet and no lorries/ buses etc.

Glad you like the Monte, if it's like ours the DRL switch is in the fuse box below the steering column. TP

  • Only had my Monte since last Friday but I can't believe how good a car it is. Everyone who's seen it love it and I've surprised a few 'boy racers' with how quick it is for a 1.2? Much better than t

what does NE mean on your maxi dot?

what does NE mean on your maxi dot?

north east

that's the direction you're travelling in :)

I would hazard a guess it stands for Neutral ie gear selection,

did'nt know fabia had a compus

whats the logic of the speedo on the monte( and on my elegance) having no marked 90mph but going up to 160mph?

Not gear selection its a compus linked to satnav its always changing when you are in nav mode arrows show on the display on the maxidot

Not noticed that untill you pointed it out after 80 it goes up 20 at a time so when you go over 80 does the needle slow down anyone know

just seems strange that 90mph (an achiveable speed) is not marked but 160mph (an unachiveable speed in any skoda? is) . Surely it would be better to go 80 90 110 130 150. anyway guess its still better than my last fabia which had the important speeds of 30 50 and 70 unmarked.

I think that most vag cars have speedos marked this way not really sure why though

Yep - common speedo for the Fabia. Mine does 140mph so close to the end.. Indicated 140 was about 136 according to the satnav. I was more concerned about the road ahead at the time though to see what it said at a real 140mph.

The "half speed above 80mph" takes a bit of getting used to - at first glance you think you're doing 85 but you're doing 90 (on German Autobahns, of course). The half-speed thing kicked in at 90mph on my Scirocco.

Yep it's got a compass linked into sat nav. I went for the red it's spot on! The roof is metallic black. Got the spare wheel thrown in free plus dealer mats ???? oh & a huge bouquet of flowers....

'Bit confused...

I saw this thread which has four pics within the first post (binnacle, nearside car, satnav, whole dashboard), and wondered whether the new style s/wheel definitely has perforations. So, I searched Google Images and found a *close-up* image of a 'new style' wheel with perforations and red stitching, but clicking the image bought me back HERE, where there's no such image in the thread!

Can anyone throw any light on this? I'm not generally having any problems seeing images, and am using a normal computer/ browser etc. Admittedly, I'm using the latest Internet Explorer (10), which some websites seem to think is out-of-date/ is IE 6 - very annoying.

I have to admit that I was a bit confused on my first read of the thread when the o/p posted 'More photos' in post #20, but there aren't any. Skoda1982, did you mean that you added more to the start of the thread?

Cheers mate.

Finally got my Monte Tech today and have to say, I love it.

No pulling to left as what's been reported in other threads, in fact it's one of the best cars I've had, driving wise.

Looking forward to putting some miles on it now and seeing what it's really like.

Seems to turn heads in Red, especially with it's PDI new car gleam!!!

Just figured out how to get the DLRs on though!

Mine is at Manchester airport at the mo as I'm on holiday in Egypt marsa alam dealer going to sort the pull to the left when I get back 48deg here hot!!!!

Lucky dude, just got back from Eurodisney, was more like 10 deg, certainly not Monte Carlo weather.

Found the switch after a quick look thru the manual!

Going down to Whitby next weekend so we'll have a good runout.

Here's to hopefully many miles of happy motoring ahead.

Mines on its way too the uk, should be here in 2 weeks or less! I plan to take it on a track or on a long drive to France or across to Ireland in my week off at the end of July

Loving my new monte in red, had it a week now. Going on the motorway for the first time today to give it a blast.

Picking mine up Thursday .... 1.6cr. Red.. Can't wait...

Been told my Tech 1.6tdi will be available in 2 weeks, looking forward to it. Hoping the dealer will put a spare wheel in it as not happy with that spray can thing.

Much better than the French biscuit tins I've been driving for the last few years!

Looks like I'm a convert, thought the best thing to come out of Czech Republic was Budwieser Budvar!
