Skoda! is it still a problem for some people!?

Featured Replies

i have one thing to say to people who are badge snobs, and the same sentace i drive around with everyday printed at the bottom of my number plate........................ ITS A SKODA, GET OVER IT!!

Must people don't know that Audi in the olden days used to have a really bad name as well, so they all started somewhere. As to the bad comments made by other people I laugh at them and call them narrowminded  they change their mind once in the car though ;)

I don't know anyone who's not been cured by a drive round the block (via a nice dual carriageway :))

The best people are the 'hot' petrol drivers - rather than racing them I take them out - the torque makes them think it's an extremely quick car. Changing at 3000 rpm makes them go 'wow, that's only 3000 revs and it's really pulling!'

I've had the comments, but they've all been from people who are a bit clueless.

its all a bit like that at college, always extracting the urine...lol!! all my friends love the car and cant wait to get a ride!!! :D

I've always liked cars that other people don't.

I'm on my second Skoda now and if anybody wants to think it's rubbish, I'll soon remove it from their sight as they breath my fumes and watch it disappear into the distance.

I'm just about to buy a Fabia TDI. Most non-car people who I've mentioned it to still consider them utter crap. I have lots of reasons I wanted this car - the engine, the equipment, the VAG background, the price, etc. but somewhere in that list is the fact that on the front of the car is an antihero badge, hiding all this from the untrained eye. There's nothing bling, or flashy, or loadsamoney about a Skoda, yet the people who drive them (or more specifically the higher-spec models) tend to be people who enjoy cars.

Interestingly, when I told my girlfriend that I had gone to look at a Fabia, she said they she thought they looked neat.

My Mrs was not convinced about the seat colour of the Furby vRS - and she was probably right ;) - but it so far has done me well, it cruises well at most speeds, goes fast if you want it to, or more economical if you prefer it.

It didnt appear all that bothered about being filled with luggage either, handling-wise, compared to some other cars.

Most cars look decent enough these days, or the manufacturer will go/has gone out of business..

I use my car as an A-B means of transport primarily - but knowing you can have some fun and that it will work is very important too :D

funny..i thought the women thing was a thing of the past..

If the woman wants to go in the backseat, I am hardly gonna say no though :naughty:

Looks like there's going to be a midget in the driver's seat, though.

 - but I don't need the driver for what I had planned ;)

It's not just skoda.Had a telephone conversation with someone the other day. He was telling me he was driving an 'S60' now.Couldn't bring himself to say Volvo

This is one awfully image conscious country :D Pillock. The volvo is a nice car if he could just get over his badge

I was washing my Fabia the other weekend and two little burks in a mk1 one micra slowed down and shouted out of the window, "I wouldnt bother mate its only a Skoda".

But I dont care if micra owners can take the p***, at the end of the day they wouldnt be seen dead in Skoda but whos got the better deal.

Know what I'd rather have.

I must admit I've not had much like that. Mo-in-law didnt like it at first but has learnt that it's better than the Rover 100 1.4 she's got

Either way - I'm happy with it, and SWMBO is happy with it, which is the only thing I (get told to) care about. You probably made their day, and it made yours as you know you've got a good car  Everyone's a winner

When I first decided to buy a car I was looking at Renault Clio mainly because it had lots of equipment and a decent engine (1.4 16V) for a 'normal' price (about 12.000

Send them a link to the 307 fires article ;)

Should be a nice upgrade from 214Si to an Octy. I'd go for the v2 though :)

An atractive middle aged lady customer once asked me in my chipped vrs taxi, what do you like? I replied "cars". See then said "why are you driving a skoda then"

I remained quite for a moment....then droped it a gear and thrashed it right up to 130mph. We talked about the weather after that.
