VRS filter question?

Featured Replies

Just curious as to why everyone seems to be using a Green replacement filter instead of an induction kit?

Is it cost or is there some other reason?

I take it you mean a Fabia vRS?

Induction kits dont seem to fair to well unless they are the completly sealed type so they dont draw in hot air. Trouble is with a sealed induction kit there isnt a nice straight run for the induction pipe so they end up being twisted and that reduces power.

For the money the green filter and PD160 intake has been proven to give good gains for the outlay.

Why a Green replacement? Why not K&N, they have always more than done the job on previous cars I've fitted them on?

No reason apart from Greens are easier to get hold of.

Oh right, I was looking at the PD160 intake!

Would you say that K&N is better or that Green is just cheaper?

Green seem to be less oiled than K+N filters which causes less problems with the air mass meter.

This is just from personal observations.

They are around the same price, green seems less oiled and also I think there have been one or two people who have had K&N and found that the rubber case goes over the element a bit too much and prefer greens through that. Not used the myself as they all do the same job

Only used K&N in the past as my local car place stocks them, take it the Greens are easily avilable to order over the internet? Be more than willing to give one a go - just wondered if there was some major problem with K&N and Fabias, hence why I asked the question. Thanks for the info Roo

Also I think Jbs have them in stock as there was a group buy recently. I used them to buy one for my forthcoming Octavia and it came really quickly

Where can you get a green filter from? I've tried Demon Tweeks but they don't list the Fabia VRS?

The greencotton.co.uk link doesn't work!?!

Try a search for JBS Auto Design

you won't find it anyway, but it is the same filter as used in all the Fabia diesel models.

And all of the petrols bar the 1.4 16v.

I have a pipercross on mine, just went to the max power site and clicked the nearest link! it came from ireland in about three days, fitted perfectly, they claim their design is best, (some weird cone type stuff) and claim a big increase in air flow... All I can say is it seems to be smoother, revs easier, and smokes less. can't notice an increase in power, but I haven't done any other mods....... (sure it would help with a remapp)

Thanx everyone Green replacement filter and PD160 intake, on their way :D

I run a hi flow JR filter not oiled at all, but cheap and easy to replace. Looked at green but too much hassle, I've had oiled filters in bikes for years but you can never get them cleaned properly. But each to their own. As with everything if you have it then it must be the dogs b*****s

Your JR filter should be oiled - they all are and are supplied pre-oiled. There is nothing to choose between JR, Green or K&N other than price and colour. They are all pretty much the same oiled cotton gauze design and despite what the manufacturers all tell you, they all perform pretty much the same.
