Octavia 1.8T estate - vibrations

Featured Replies

Hi all. My wife has a 2003 1.8T Octavia Estate. It's suddenly developed a strange vibration and am wondering if anyone knows what I should look for before I go into the local garage (I like to be prepared before I take it in).

Basically there is a vibration that makes the whole car shudder. It does it when the car is idling as well as moving so that obviously rules out things like wheel alignment, balance etc. There is no knocking noise, which surprises me as the vibration is quite pronounced.

It feels like its coming from the front but its hard to tell. When I open the bonnet there is quite a pronounced wobble of the engine.

Sorry, this is all pretty vague but just wondered if anyone had an idea of what to look for.

Cheers

Probably an engine mount

coil packs, running on 3 cylinders, if one down engine miss and judder!!

Is it driving ok?

Thanks all. It vibrates when it drives as well. I wondered about engine mountings too.

Is it on the original dual mass flywheel? It could be that broken that its vibtating through the whole car. I've had it with several Nissan xtrails and path finder/navaras where I work.

Coil packs. Check with your Skoda dealer to see if your car is covered by the VAG coilpack recall.

As above, bet its one of the coil packs.Has the engine light come on?
