What colour?

Featured Replies

I'm very pleased with Petrol Blue it seems to change with light conditions from Dark Blue to a rich sparkly Green but I must admit I've never had a colour  that shows the dirt as much.

If you are prepared to clean your car regularly go for it as it is an outstanding colour  IMHO.

Good luck with your choice.

  • Have to cast a vote for Steel Grey, a real colour changer depending on the light. Has to be seen to appreciate.

  • It's ok alleycat. I enjoyed the laugh you gave me. Very tongue in cheek. Sure it's a sad world if we can't laugh at ourselves :-)

  • Out of those, Shark Blue. Nice colour and different from all the other cars on the road that are monochrome white/grey/silver/black. Just ordered Mum's second Yeti and that will be Shark Blue too.

Shark Blue is not available any more!

I've had to choose another colour can't decide between Candy White or Petrol Blue

What! The configurator is wrong!! Never!!!

Of the many features SWMBO loves about the car, it's the ever changing colour that fascinates her most - easy for her to lose in a car park though  ! PB

Still thinking which one to go for wish I could have one of each.

Dealer also said the jungle drums suggested that Moon White & Steel Grey may not be available.

"not available" does that mean in a certain time frame or at all? Seems odd that colours are available to choose but not to buy...

It's mad and so am I.

Its probably why there are no printed brochures yet because they don't know what they can put in em. :swear:

We have a moon white on order. Should be being built this week but wont hold my breath. Hopefully moon white will look great and hopefully rare as not many people will fork out the extra money over candy white.

Can I ask why on earth you did?

Visibility-wise if that's a word, Candy White ticks my box and that's from experience, previous car was a black Octavia vRS which was always being hit one way or another. Yeti after 4 years is unscathed ! Car does get visibly very dirty. best car colour for that I found was a light metallic green - always looked clean even if not washed for 3 months !

Muscovado is a great colour for hiding dirt.

Even after a month in winter it didn't look too bad.

Our petrol blue only need to be driven for a day in grotty weather and I am thinking it needs cleaning.

Still wouldn't change it though.

I always suspected that might be the case, if I'd not been so tight when I bought Yeti that would have been my colour choice. Could have had a grizzly bear instead of a snowmonster ! :giggle:  :giggle:

Well for starters it's on motability so it doesn't cost extra to have moon white. the original order was a pre fl in candy white which we liked so thought we would change to moon white when it changed to an f/l. Secondly if it looks as good as the metallic white that Audi's come in it should look better than the Candy white. Thirdly I am a car valeter so know just how much hard work looking after a dark coloured car is. Unless you have a very good wash method dark cars show swirl/holograms so easily unlike light colours. We currently have a dark grey car and even washing it correctly it needs polishing often to keep it looking good but doing it for a living means I don't often get the urge to look after our own car quite as well as my customers. Fingers crossed it will look ok when it arrives.

Thank you for the explanation. I had never heard of detailing holograms before... Most interesting.

I also prefer (any) white, preferably with black or anthracite alloys (last yeti was Candy white). My new car is also white, but having seen the manufacturer's equivalent of Skoda's Moon white (metallic) in the showroom, I could not believe how much better it looked than the solid white.  I would have optioned it , but unfortunately, it was not available of my model, so had to stick with standard white.

I think NickP's new FL has been ordered in Moon White, but no doubt he will correct me if that is not so.

As aside, I am currently looking at buying a classic Toyota MR2 in white, and remember at the time when they first came out in the mid 80's, how awful they looked in that colour, preferring the red and black for my subsequent purchases of the model. A Sierra Cosworth 3 door I later owned was in white, and that seemed to suit the car fine, and still does IMO. My 2 Impreza Turbos were Silver (OK), and Metalic Green (horrid then and now), but at the time in the mid 90s, these cars were quite rare new (and even more so used), so you took what ever colour was available - happy days indeed!

Now white cars seemed to be the most popular colour on the road. Back in the day, the only white cars seemed to Mercedes taxis.

How times have changed.

I think Black is the best for giving off a great shine when clean but there is nothing worse than seeing a black or dark coloured car in direct sunlight covered in swirls and holograms (looks like the thing is covered in really fine spiderwebs) in case you're wondering what i'm on about. Never had a white car before so thought we would give it a try for 3 years even though they don't shine up any where near as well as a dark colour.

With Shark blue no longer available, 2.9% finance and no 3 year servicing Skoda are really making me think twice about ordering a new Yeti :(

  • 4 weeks later...

My Shark Blue 1.2S was built Week 4, last tracked at UK port.

Had the Yeti for nearly a week now. Do I think Moon white is that much better than Candy white? Probably not. Maybe a bit brighter and does change colour  in the light. Maybe it will be better in the sun if we ever see the thing again.

Having a red Octavia didn't make it any more visible to the youth that turned right into me and wrote it off - Black Magic Yeti now on the way....

Now that the Jungle Greens are starting to come through, and people can see what they actually look like (pretty good!) I'm guessing this is going to prove a very popular (though originally risky) choice.

After seeing real pics of Jungle Green I'm not too sure about it in this country as we have quite low light levels here and think it makes the green look sludgy compared to the photo shoot type pics that have really good lighting making it appear far greener. Could be wrong though, usually am.

The pictures don't do it justice.

I intended to order another Muscovado but when I went to look at one there was a Jungle Green L&K parked alongside it so I had a direct comparison. The lighting makes a vast difference to it's appearance but it also did to the Musky and I've been very happy with that.

Fred

Any more photos of these Jungle Green examples people have been seeing then?

Well happy with my Muscovado, it doesn't show the dirt

We weren't very original on colour. What's in the showroom or on the used cars? Fair selection of colours and SWMBO selected from those since it was a Skoda colour on a real car (well ok it was a Rapide  :giggle: ).

Cappuccino - only problem is spelling it.
