Am I mad? What mpg from a stage 1 vrs?

Featured Replies

I'm currently getting about 22 combined lol

That's on a good day ...

It's also worth mentioning that the computer tells big fat porky pies. I've had some impossible things that just don't make sense between 1&2 on the trip counter, like improving my "2" figure dramatically with a short run, except when I checked "1" (the shorter trip) it's was radically lower than "2" and also lower than the "2" figure was to start with.

And then there's speedo overread, and not actually doing as many miles as you think you are (particularly bad on the estates with 16's and 205/55/R16's)

The figures are also based on a new, freshly serviced car in perfect working order.

I recently got excactly 400 miles (until it showed 0 miles left on the dash) on a trip from newcastle to brecon in wales. Thats mostly motorway driving and alot of spirited driving threw the mountains. Was quite chuffed with that.

This is my best, took some serious eco effort though. Over an 8 mile trip.

Think I would be stupid to get rid, just filled up after doing 570 miles on a tank with 25 to empty and worked out brim to brim figure as 53.4 mpg and that involved a little play with a type r at the weekend too. Will save up and look for one for the weekend. Why can't diesels pop and bang instead of just chugger lol

darkside turbo kit would give you the power to show a clean pair of heels to an Octavia (in a straight line) AND 50+ mpg

Still be followed by a big black soot cloud though ;)

I'm missing the sound of a petrol I think, they are plenty quick enough to have enough fun in but just don't satisfy you like the roar of a petrol when you give it some

agree totally

the year-ish i spend driving a nat asp 2 litre GTi mk2 Ibiza were excellent fun for the senses

that much so that i almost considered selling the Fabia and buying a Clio 182

the Ibiza was, and Clio would have been, (relative) murder on the wallet though

I spend more time commuting than i do driving flat out so 50mpg wins over a 7000rpm red line i'm afraid

This is what made me get rid of my Astra SRi cdti, it was quick, lovely to drive, nice looking..................but I love the way a petrol sounds and the way a petrol turbo delivers the power.

Haha, not last time I checked! Just very aware of what my foot was doing.

It was bits of downhill but most of it in Sheffield city centre so not so much. Just the road conditions were perfect for it and I didn't have to stop once!

Just did an 189 mile round trip, 80% motorway, 42.7mpg. Average speed about 50 over the whole journey. So boring. :giggle:

Meh, I think inline fours sound pants regardless of what fuel they use. ;)

Aye my VR6 sounds better but gets 19mpg!
