Am I mad? What mpg from a stage 1 vrs?

Featured Replies

I've got a 2005 fabia vrs at the minute that's in good condition on 113k (bought on 93k) I've added a k&n cone filter, back box and coilovers and some a3 sport wheels and I'm toying with getting mapped in the next week or so but I'm really getting drawn to a octavia vrs!

My dad had 2 in yellow when they were pretty much new and I've always liked them, was looking for one but got the fabia instead.

Now the only problem is I do about 2000mile a month as it's my work car so am I mad for even thinking this?? Would want one that was mapped, downpipe and decat to a cat back poss fmic. I know I won't get the 50mpg+ I get now but roughly how bad will it be? I tend to cruise at 70 up and down the motorway and just have the odd blast

Best I get is around 38mpg,some people get more but I've never managed to :(

30-38 depending on how you drive in normal conditions. It can be better, but it takes some self-control. It also can be a whole lot worse depending on that self-control. :D

Don't bother with that miles!

Keep fabia for work!

Maybe buy an octy to horse around at the weekend! Cheap as chips and can be had for £1500

Yeah as big Jase says. Get an octy as a weekend toy otherwise you will be like WTF where did that tank of fuel go I'm sure I only filled up yesterday !

Motorway wise i usually get between 40 and 46mpg doing 70-80 in normal driving. Mines a stage 1, nearly a stage 2. Does well tbh!

Worst i've seen is 35mpg on the motorway but that wasn't being at all economical.

More often than not i get around 35mpg normal driving. But its not a diesel!

On an octy vrs your looking at 300-400miles to a tank dependant on driving!

Personally i never seen over 350! What does that say about my driving :o

Jez, I am lucky if I ever see 300

Really ....

You're not trying at all are you lol

Take it easy and it's possible to get 46+ mpg :D

Realistically 30-35 mpg, dreaming/living on a motorway 40+.

He said he's mostly on the motorway, so will be the second one lol :p

Best I ever got was 42 mpg on motorway at around 65 to 70 constant. Around town 20 to 26, getting over that is rare for me.

yesterday I got my best ever of 39.6 MPG motorway, but then around town later I was only getting 10-12.. but if I am semi sensible around town is about 25 ish

Personally if I was doing that kind of milage I'd get a diesel 130 octy and modify that, including vrs body and interior bits

Yeah but it then gets shot to bits as soon as you hit traffic/b roads/have to accelerate at all. :giggle:

Mfa wise, obviously isn't gospel but that's what I get. So probably a bit different in real figures.

My 16 mile trip to work through traffic I get at least 33mpg, but there's a large variety of roads on my commute.

If you're not getting similar sort your driving style or get a better map.

I get those kind of figures, however imo its not realistic to expect 40+ all the time unless constantly on long easy cruises with no traffic.

there is no comparison economy wise with the octavia, the fabia is way better in that respect, and considering you do a lot of miles, you would be mad to change.

Course you can't get it all the time. But I just took the missus to work on the morning commute and got 35mpg on the nose. It's just about knowing how to drive it. If you pretend you don't have brakes you'll barely lose momentum and its easy to do.

But a Fabia VRS on the same trip is gonna get 55-60 isn't it. So depends if you're sick of an engine that sounds like a bag of spanners or want one that sounds nice. :giggle:

I get about 32 driving around town and then 5 when destroying a hill :)

Just got 23, 15 mile round trip, half town half dual carriage way. :giggle:

This is my best, took some serious eco effort though. Over an 8 mile trip.
