New key is how much?

Featured Replies

Inc vat it pretty much cost me £200

£50 to remove stolen key

£50 new key

£50 new fob

£50 re code new fob.

£50 to remove stolen key? serious? that's just robbery, any key not present when new key is programmed is automatically deleted when new key is coded

job done!

Turned out it's got the newer pre-coded(dealer key) system so if anybody had just tried programming a new key using vagtacho etc then it wouldn't have worked. The transponder has to be programmed with in Component Security info from the immob before it can be programmed into the car with the SKC.

It's the 1st time i've come across a 55 plate that needs a pre-coded key so was a bit surprised when my equipment gave me the CS data as well as the SKC. Anyways, all sorted

B**stards.

£50 to remove and £50 to recode.

As far as I'm aware, when you code new keys, all the old ones are wiped and you have to recode all keys.

They key you use to turn the car on to access it with VCDS is coded, then you add each key at a time as part of the same process.

And a big thanks to you.

Quick professional job - highly recommended.

Only downside was being cooked by the sun, god it was good to get back into the air con afterwards!

Tom

you're welcome. Funnily enough I did another 55 plate on Wednesday. That was also pre-coded
