very good, i have an S spec but still love mine, can you believe the space in the back :o! its crazy, and you figured out the boot mechanism yet

You say 'only S spec' but even the base Superb is very well specced! Try sitting in an 'S' Octavia - it feels like you've gone back in time.

The space in the back is amazing, almost limo like but it doesn't feel any bigger to drive than the Octavia. Looking at the external dimensions its much longer but no wider. It'll be nice not having the kids kicking the back of my seat!

Opening the boot isn't an issue, closing it however isn't as slick as the Octavia - when in normal saloon mode. The rubber grab handle is too low and the rounded edge of the boot lid together with the polished paint makes it hard to get a grip. The springs / hinges are set quite hard. The boot lid on the Octavia had a spoiler on it so the extra weight meant the boot slammed really easily - one extreme to another!

It hasn't rained yet but I already miss the rear wash/wipe.

Congrats silver,iv just sold my 07 Vrs too as u know, picked up my 2012 anthracite grey Vrs a few days ago love it :) the cr170 is sooo much nicer to drive :)

Nice work! I'd have had another vRS but fancied a change.

I too am impressed how far diesel engines have come. I am still a huge fan of the 'PD Punch' but the CR really is in another league for refinement.

Here's to the next 5 years and 160,000 miles of enjoyable driving

....u do that many miles?!!!

I'm afraid so. I average between 25,000 and 30,000 miles a year as I have a daily 170 mile round trip commute.

The Superb already has 14,000 miles on it so in 5 years time it'll be north of 160,000 miles and most likely ready for replacement!

Not cheaper to move nearer to work?

i know the s octy mk2 is lacking in kit, but even some of the stuff in the superb s you dont get on a elegance octy mk2 e.g auto lights, and know exactly what your on about with the hard to pull saloon mode if one hand is full and you try to close the boot it is a bit tricky, but the legroom, is astonishing!! i love it as does my passangers, even had a a young lady give me a £5 tip for the sheer amount of space in the back!

The advantage of having a Greenline, the very small but conveniently placed boot spoiler. Just enough for your fingertips to grab.

I do to really miss the wash/wipe from my Vrs

But then I wouldn't get to spend three hours a day in the Superb :giggle:

Good idea, I've found one online for £90. Another £50 to paint it and I could have a new boot grab handle for less than £150!

U becoming more like me (too attached to car)!

Don't do it mate!

Its suicidal!

Lol

yes even i have been doing this, every night when i get home i polish all the interior espeially the door sills as everyone seems to catch there feet on them, and even the seat belts, every one doesn't put them back!! so they are left tangled, and i have to fix them and put the buckle in the appropriate possiton, don't matter to me im on 5 year HP finance, im tied to the car for at least 2 and half years but i love it and even though you feel a bit lonley out there with no to many superbs on the road i still see about a minimum 8 a day mainly in my area as a good few are too on as taxi

I actually like the uniqueness (loniness) :-)

But feel sad when i see most of them are taxi s and battered :-(

Do thy look after them better in the highlands (taxi s)?

I've trained my mates to clean there Superb taxi either every day or every other day.

Here in Carlisle you can get pulled up front of the council if your car (Hackney or radio taxi) is too dirty, in any form of disrepair. One got a letter of warning for not having a wheel trim on his full size spare wheel when one of his alloy wheel's got a puncture.

Just catching up silver, knew you were looking for a Superb, so welcome along.

Same engine and spec as mine, aside mine has the roof rails!

Your taxi has to be in good condition up here, IE. good bodywork and clean and healthy interior, there are a good few superbs up here as taxis and even a few just as normal cars a few streets away from me there are two on the one street, one is a 61 plate twindoor elegance 170 TDI, and the other is a 09 plate silver twindoor SE 140 TDI but today i was driving and two superb 62 plates where behind me so 3 superbs in convoy you would struggle to see that on an insignia

Just caught up here too Silver.Very nice car and i hope you enjoy it. :)

My (used) Elegance twindoor has the same small boot spoiler, was it standard equipment or an optional extra?

Happy bunny!

First full tank, 630 miles... 55.98mpg (calculated manually - 51.16 litres).

Chuffed to bits, my Octy vRS averaged 47.5mpg over 45,000 miles.

Thats the reason I changed my vRS. I had the DSG and was averaging the same as you. My Greenline is averaging 60 mpg but my last two commutes home I have got 71 &74 mpg.

The superb really feels in a different league to the Octavia.

Crikey, there is a lot of metal on the Superb.

Gave it a thorough polish today and it took for ever, the roof alone used up half a bottle :giggle:
