Pairing up Keyfob: just 4 attempts max?

When looking at the instructions for pairing keyfobs, It says it can be repeated up to 4 times for additional remotes. Does that mean if you've used up your four goes (maybe trying and failing to get it to work) you're had it and it back to the dealer? Or, should the whole 4 times only thing kick in, could this be wiped by disconnecting the battery?

As i read it 4 remotes maximum for 1 car.

Thanks for replies. @ actionman39, do you get unlimited attempts at this? I've tried 3 times so far and nothing doing! Cannot get the fob to pair up yet...

If the case is only 4 remotes will work, is there a way from removing a remote from the car to free up a slot?

In some cases, it may be necessary to clear out existing matched remotes using the following procedure:

[46 - Cent. Conv.] or [35 - Cent. Locking] (whichever is applicable to the car, as found here)

[Adaptation - 10]

Enter channel "00"

[Read]

[save]

When the prompt asks if you are sure you want to save a value of 0 to Channel 00, click [Yes]

After doing so, no remotes will be matched. You'll need to follow the appropriate above procedure to match all of the remotes.

@DGW, thanks, some interesting reading for those who are able to afford and be knowledgeable enough to use this kind of software. Right now, it's just me, my fob and a near empty wallet! I will re-read again in case some of the info could be useful doing it without the software etc. Thanks for posting
