Floor mats and fixings

Featured Replies

This might be a daft question, but hey...

I need to get some mats for the car, thinking just reasonable copies of eBay will suffice - unless anyone has reason to suggest otherwise?

I notice that a lot of them have holes for fixing them, but my car doesn't have the studs. i've found the studs on eBay, about £4.29 for four, but how do you figure out where to put them?

This is why fitted mats are better, they are cut to fit around the footwell and the floor mounted accelerator peddle etc.

Once a fitted mat is in situ it becomes pretty clear where you need to mount the fixing studs.

The OEM carpet mats have got some criticism on here for not being particularly hard wearing but mine have been just fine on my (just sold) Octavia with 75,000 miles and no wear at all.

Plenty of genuine mats on eBay and www.skodaparts etc for around £30..?

Also, my MKV GTI mats are the exact same shape as my Octavia MK2 Scout.

My OEM vRS mats are great. They have fixing points in the back which I've not got plugs for but going to get some as like silver1011 says, once they're in place you can poke you finger into the carpet and feel the hole the plug should go into.

I've got genuine rubber mats in mine.

Easy enough to work out where the studs screw in to the carpet, but I'm damned if I can get the mat to stay on the studs!

If your local to me you can have a set of rubber mats for free.
