RES+

Featured Replies

This is a switch on my indicator stalk but I don't know what it does. Anyone know?

It's a combined RES button and + button all in one.

The + function only works with the cruise control engaged.....it will increase the cars set speed when pressed.

RES resumes the previous stored cruise control speed. So if you have been driving with cruise set at 70 mph on the motorway and have to slowdown for some reason RES will accelerate the car (quite violently if you have DSG!) back up to 70 mph.

I've found that RES likes to floor it - watching the engine load % with a bluetooth OBD-II adaptor, it'll go straight to 100 and drop off when you get to the desired speed.

Yes. I've noticed this myself when mucking around with VCDS.

The 100% throttle combined with a DSG kickdown makes for a bit of a white knuckle ride......especially if you press RES at 35 mph when the set speed is 70 mph!

Looks pretty likely.

Is there a rocker switch on the top of the stalk with an on and off position?

Does it look like this with the switch on top?

On the top of the left hand indicator stalk.

Yep. With big res+ directly underneath.

A bit but not quite. The res+ is directly underneath the switch. TBH I haven't even looked if I've got the set buttons on the side. Must go and investigate now!

Many thanks for this topic - been trying to find out what this does on my car :D

Will have to give this a try and thanks for the heads up about entering cruise control warning. Fastest I drive is 60mph even on a motorway but even though and that's the only place I'd consider using it, that and a dual carriageway.

I use cruise a lot of the time now, especially in speed controlled zones (ie with cameras). It saves me having to watch my speed once set and it allows me to concentrate on the road and other traffic.

I have DSG and don't use res+ unless I am already near the previously set speed as I value my head remaining on my neck & shoulders, Lol.
