Good festival of speed - report incl. photos

Featured Replies

Today I wnetdown to glorious Goodwood for the annual Festival of Speed. Got there very ealry to ensure it wasn't too busy, a few yards inside the gate I was walking past the toyota tent and was amazed to hear them starting up th F1 car at 8am. Having not heard an F1 car in the flesh before I have to say thet it was amazing! The redbull team did the same later while i was about 8 fett from the exhausts with no ear protection. I dont care.... sounded great!

Watched lots of supercars go up the hill, the Spyker sounded fantastic as did the Aston DB9 and the AMG SLK pace car.

The RAF kindly provided a GR4 tornado for a quick, noisy air display too.

Overall a great day out, helped by the hot sunshine while it was raining hard at home near Oxford.

I'm going next year for sure. It was a great day out.

www.philgooch.com/goodwood has some photos and vodeos, videos are about 12mb each.

Glad you had a good time. I came back from Brighton along the A27 and arrived at Chichester about 6pm  Really should have listened to my own advice about avoiding the area while FOS was on!

my route was perfect, Chris, until the A34 was down to 1 lane just 10 miles from home. 45 mins to go 11 miles

Took me just 2hrs on the way which I was happy with, wasnt speeding at all due to traffic and funny sounding brakes :(

Glad you enjoyed it, we went on Saturday & as always had a great day

I was there on Sunday, and if was flipping awesome - never been before! Arrived at 8am, left at 4pm, and not a moment of boredom. Highlight was a helicopter ride over the site, that left me giggling like a school girl! Nearly got run over by Alonzo in a golf cart, and torched by a flaming Porche exhaust! Was great to see Charlie Boreman and Ewan Mcgreggor there enjoying themselves, and I wet myself when the brand new Ford GT split a hose at it left the starting padock and spewed liquid all over the track!

Downside was the 1.5 hour walk from the car to Tractor pick up, half way up the hill! Although, we did stop for ice cream!

Totally knackered now, shamefully sunburnt (really bad panda eyes from the Oakleys!), but still grinning!

I was walking past at that point on Friday too!!! I must agree the sound was fantastic :D

I've got around 150+ photos to wade through now
