Meteor Grey - the picture thread

Featured Replies

OK, so... I don't *actually* have any pictures yet, but this thread could be used as a placeholder for pictures as and when they become available.

Meteor grey can be ordered as of a few days ago (I have, in fact) but there's precious little info about what it *actually* looks like - so it's a bit of a gamble at the moment. All there is online and in the Fabia brochure are pretty poor quality computer renderings - so nothing like the real thing.

Skoda UK Customer Services have promised me "a closeup photo of the bootlid badge area" (literally all they could get out of their marketing department) - so not fantastic, but certainly the only real photographic evidence available so far. I'll post this up when I get it.

It could be a trend-setting colour, or could be "primer grey" with a gloss coat on top... would quite like to find out before my build date (as after that point I can't change my mind and get a rallye blue one instead)!

Anyone else got any tidbits or clues?

How much extra was the Option , was it £200 only.

& is it listed as 'Special Finish'?

'Tech Grey' ,

a Basic Solid Colour, would be nice, and looks OK on some Fiats and sharn on others.

The image coming up on the configurator looks different from this one in Dealers Adverts,

Is this one the same as in the Brochures?

The grey with the green line round it looks stonking.......

I`ll get me coat..

Yes, £200 option and listed in the Fabia brochure here:

https://tools.skoda.co.uk/brochure_fabia.pdf

The brochure doesn't mention a 'special finish' but I have seen that elsewhere. I wasn't able to build my car on the Skoda configurator (the estate Monte Carlo isn't listed yet) but the colour is available there for the hatch.

That's the problem I'm finding - just a load of computer renders, no actual photos (apart from the ones george posted).

Yeah, did the google thing and saw the others. I've found some of the pictures you posted above, but not in as good quality. It looks nice on the woethersee pictures, but I'm not 100% certain that it's meteor grey, and not... something else. (Concepts being concepts 'n all).

I also wonder whether it works well in those pictures because they've paired it with a lurid colour... do I need to paint my wheels highlighter green? :-D

I was very tempted by meteor gry when I ordered my Monte Carlo estate, but like others not seeing the colour I didn't fancy the risk.....then I found out that Audi use to do the exact same colour.....heres a link to a couple of pictures of meteor grey on an audi.

http://forums.audiworld.com/showthread.php?t=2746967

im pretty sure its going to be the same colour....same car group etc etc..

I may just change my mind.

I was thinking the same, but the Audi Meteor Grey is metallic, and that makes a fair bit of difference I think...

No one knows if the skoda one is metallic...it just says a special colour...f i was putting my money on anything it would be that meteor grey is the same as audi one...

Think in the Czech meteor grey is described as steel grey, also have a very very pale blue by the name of modra (blue) sky, neither of which are described as metallic. Only grey metallic listed is Platin which is what we refer to as steel grey metallic;

Oh also noticed in the UK brochure Meteor grey is £200 against metallic or yellow at £495 :wonder:

TP

Is it perhaps the grey used on the rapid sport concept? The grey side in the photos on the rapid sport thread look like a solid rather than metallic paint which would tie in with the lower £200 price tag.

Agreed, this is definitely a solid colour, not metallic - at £200 there's no way it's metallic.

My hunch is that it's the same as on the rapid sport concept... but... I'm not certain I want to order a new car's colour on a hunch! Also not sure what it will look like on a big ol' slab of car like an estate.

I don't think the Czech "Steel Grey" is the same, as it's one of the most expensive paint colours (If you try their configurator) - suggests it's metallic (or Czech customers are being ripped off perhaps?)

I highly doubt Metor Grey is the same as the Audi one - it is clear from the Illustrations on the configurator that it is quite a pale grey closer to the Rapid Concept and Fabia RS+ as sk4gw indicated.

I wish it is close to the Telesto Grey that Lambo and other Italian cars like Fiat are wearing.

baby...

Oof... that bimma looks superb...

I had a look at the last 'Machine/Tech Grey' i sprayed in my Off Road Jimny's Interior & i think i will give it a miss as an Exterior Finish.

But,

now seriously considering doing a Wrap in Anthracite Grey Matallic.

I have liked the Stealth Look for a vRS since a member here in South America posted their car.

george

I think the Fiat's grey is much better looking, there is a bit of blue hue in there which makes the grey looks so more "interesting" than all the others.

Absolutely with you on that one - would have gone anthracite if it was still offered, but they've taken it off the list with the latest update. Hopefully it's not as blue as the jimny colour you posted...

The photo made that colour look bluer.

Its the Standard 'Machine Grey' that used to be everyplace, ie Lathes, Drilling Machines, Transformers etc.,

Looked tough and was tough, and came in differing types and brands, but mostly matched when touching up.

'Tech House Grey', as on the Fiat 500 is almost identical.

george

I like this Audi TT in 'Aviator Grey'.

From here.
