  • On other new Skodas, the 2 Colours 'Meteor Grey' and 'Metal Grey' are listed as Metallics. ('google images meteor grey' and you see the various images of the Superb etc, but as you say, not great pic

  • Thanks. I'll let Skoda know.

Lol... :giggle: That's battleship grey ,so the 'Fabia Reaction' on Simpsons' website could well be close to the colour..

It's *actually* called "battleship grey"??

that's what was allegedly on the website, yes.

Looking at your photo more closely, it reminds me of the grey that was on the old skoda estelle years ago!

Lighter than the shade used on our 1988 Rapid 136, which although 'battleship grey' to look at, I'm sure the colour was referred to as some sort of blue but I cannot remember the name used.

Ours was the same shade as above; wish skoda would produce a updated version of the above shape (but without increasing the size to much).

I was thinking the same, but the Audi Meteor Grey is metallic, and that makes a fair bit of difference I think...

Just noticed in the brochure that meteor grey is advertised as Metallic. Yet its only 200 quid...post-104528-0-84807100-1371992701_thumb.jpgpost-104528-0-84807100-1371992701_thumb.jpg

That's... Strange.

Doesn't mention metallic here I don't think: https://tools.skoda.co.uk/brochure_fabia.pdf

http://www.broadspeed.com

are also showing it as Metallic, but their Info comes from the Manufacturers Specs, and its often wrong.

"Special metallic Meteor Grey" £200, where they say "Special Solid Sprint Yellow" £495

So if Skoda says it is not Metallic,

but then again it can be anything,

because you never know with them till a car arrives.

EDIT.

Here it is in with 'Solid' Meteor Grey.

Be rest assured, Meteor Grey is definitely a non-metallic colour, the dealer confirmed that yesterday too.

If you look carefully at Louisv6's photo...........now I'm no photography expert, but if you look closely enough you can see the colour is darker at the bottom and lighter at the top.

Well, if you run the top of that photo alongside the RS+ grey, and stand back a bit ,I would say it's a fairly safe bet that's the colour we're looking at.

Simples!

But, why on earth all the ruddy secrecy, why don't they just send us the proper photo and be done with it??!! :wall:

So where would you stand if you ordered meteor grey thinking it is metalic as described in brochure and it arrives as a non metallic...ots all very mis leading...

I'm afraid Skoda cover themselves for this.....if you look on the Skoda Fabia brochure where all the colours are, they add small print......"because of errors in the print blah blah blah , colours may be different"

lol,

Colours might be different due to printing and ink on paper.

But their words are the problem.

eg

as in Post #56

" *Meteor Grey Metallic* ", (as in some PDF Brochures.)

If you Ordered, filled in an Order Sheet and it Stated Metallic & it showed that as being for £200,

you would just not accept the car when it arrived if it was not what you wanted.

If you really want to Order and it is accepted, it is best to have clearly in Black and White what the build Spec you are paying for actually is.

Seems simple,

only Skoda Dealers & Skoda seem to make it difficult.

They need to sort out their Brochures, Web Sites etc, been the same for years now, never actually current or accurate.

(Fiat are also as bad.)

The small print is only referring to colour differences seen from the printing process/ monitor colour settings etc. it is not a get out clause for false advertising stating ' metallic' when in actual fact its not.

I think i'm gunna stick with my white, I have always wanted white and I don't think im brave enough to choose a colour I haven't actually seen on a car!

Wow, three pages on a possible paint colour

Get black, it is common knowledge Black cars are much easier to sell on and bring slightly more money ;)

To settle the dispute though what's the problem with providing RAL Number or RGB designation? This way everybody could get the correct colour to compare to, just go to local printers and ask for a sample of such printed, they have calibrated hardware.

Oh, I do like the grey with black comobo. Having said that the grey with dayglo yellow roof and wheels looked really nice too!

While I admire and respect your optimism, the SkodaUK lot can't even work out whether or not my car comes with ESC, let alone produce anything like RGB values...

Anyway, I've come to the conclusion the available evidence suggests it will be a half-decent colour, so I'll borrow some of your optimism and just take a punt!

I doubt the were thinking of these Meteors.!

(not Brownie Orange, but could have caused such colours while in service.)

If I remember well he is also a member on this forum...

It looks like it missed the top coat and the primer got a good polishing......

I'm getting more confused by the minute :wall:

That battleship grey on that fabia vrs mk1 looks like the one on the skoda uk build your own website.

If it's the one, it's a great colour!

The mk1 belongs to mikedan.

He got the car resprayed

Confirmation from Skoda UK now received that Meteor Grey is indeed a non-metallic colour (contrary to the pictures GLENT54321 posted).

They have confirmed that there is a brochure floating around that INCORRECTLY states meteor grey is metallic.

This has come directly from a SUK internal bulletin. The bulletin makes clear that the brochure with "metallic" is wrong, and that a new version of the brochure will be pushed out soon with this corrected.

Also explains why Meteor Grey is £200, not £500 like all the other metallic colours.
