October Track day @ Oulton Park Tuesday 8th October

Featured Replies

Lens really helps, I tend to use a 100-400mm zoom at Outlon Park, Druids is a great place for pictures, light is behind, pan shots from left to right, going away shots over the small hill and of course coming towards shots too.

Thanks again for taking the shots.

That sort of thing needs deciding face to face in the pits before heading out    With the rule about letting quicker cars past, I was also very keen to move out the way of anything quick.  :)

There was an awful lot of blue flagging going on, im wondering if its related to the nasty incident (bikes) the other day?

Most of us are pretty curtious with other cars so im not sure why there was so much blue flagging. In my Spencerian there usually isnt a problem following someone around.

The only problem car i saw was a Proton that nearly drove a clio off the track.

And i would also like to point out it was great to see so many Skodas there.

There was just 2 Rovers, Dan and myself. (which is twice as many as normal!)

So thats a big win for you guys over our bunch of shandy drinkers.

I thought it was a very well behaved day , most people were moving out the way when required, as I moved out the way when required, no "close" moments ect , and I went out as a passenger in a couple of other peopls cars too , the only thing I saw was a BMW staying in front of Jasont for several laps when he was clearly slower... but still no big issuse.....

actually made me more comfortable with track days, seeing as I have a £15k car to potentially damage! lol...

Yes Dave, £150 for fronts only on the Golf, rears are standard Pagid pads, as are the front and rear discs, standard Pagid.

I will sell you my Yellow stuff fronts for the Fabia if you are interested? They have done, Oulton Park and Bedford How Fast open to offers.

If Dave doesn't want them, I would be tempted :) I couldn't join in on this one as I'm already booked to do Oulton on the 8th November. Looks like you had a great day though!

Phil.B,  Sharkrider did take my Yellow stuff pads and old discs off the Fabia too.

Ah no worries thanks for letting me know. I had forgotten about your offer to try out the yellow stuff pads. I'm just going to buy a pair I think.

Sharkrider, in the Golf at Oulton Park.

Still Processing at the time of posting, so come back later.

Awesome track.  Whats been done to the Golf then?  Seems to go through the bends well

A lot, GAZ coil overs, Eibach R32 ARB's and stripped out too.

Here is the build thread V6 Golf

I enjoyed that drive , the car handled very well, very flat, good steering weight, good turn in , good brakes,  I like the way the vid goes from me pussyfooting around in an unfamiliar car to screechiing its tyres off by the end ;) Cant wait to try it when the turbo is on! :o that was its only problem really, lack of power... (and of course the annoying need to change gear! :P )

Mr Rooney being chased by a Golf GTi who will win??

Nice footage there James! That track day has certainly helped clean all the soot out of my engine!

The black VW sirocco Tdi didn't give his position up easily making me work hard for it lol !

Your Golf goes really well and will be pretty special once that turbo is bolted on! Looking fwd to seeing it in action!

Any news on the resistors?

Sean, this is footage from somebody else, I found it on youtube lol

Resistors are here, we just need to have a dry day to dismantle your connectors for airbag module.

I will call this week to see about next weekend.

Ahhh ! I was wondering who the bloke with the long hair was lol!

I'm off next weekend. Could come to you if best for you?

OK, I will be photographing a fleet of trucks on one of the days depending on weather, so I will call you Friday and let you know.

Long hair, definitely not me  :giggle:
