October Track day @ Oulton Park Tuesday 8th October

Featured Replies

I still consider myself new to track driving, only having around 40 mins at Castle Combe in total. I'm doing it to learn more about different tracks. It's nice Castle Combe is fairly local to me, shame I can't track at Pembrey but I'm guessing Oulton will be a lot better.

Why can't you do pembrey?

Why can't you do pembrey?

Because most of time when public are allowed down there it seems to be bikes. May do that if I get leathers. They do car days but rarely. Every weekend there's something else on.

I have spectated at Pembrey, went to watch the HSCC, a mate of mine was running a 928 Porsche, along the back straight he was flat out and approaching the 90' right hander to head down the start finish straight, hitting the brake pedal ready to turn in he shat himself as the brake pedal hit the floor and did not slow the car down, he hit the tyres at 80+ mph, Porsche was a mess and it took him a year to have it rebuilt. Only his pride was hurt luckily.

As for the circuit, it has some interesting cambers and long bends, I might be up for a day there but next year.

Tempted to bring the Brisk Rover out for a last blast as a 1400cc warrior. Will have a think about it.

would be fun :D But I gather its a faster circuit than Bedford, but I don't imagine this will stop you having fun. Just carry more speed through the corners! :D

Well, after a crap day of things breaking and me swearing a lot I have booked in for the track day at Oulton Park on the 8th October. First I had a drip in the cistern, sorted that and then broke the lid, then my lad was mopping oil up in the spark plug holes on his Lupo and managed to snap off a spark plug, he had the electrode and nut part but had left the outer thread in the hole, so off to Halfords for some easy outs and a set of plugs, got robbed!

Anyway I am in now and am not touching anything incase I break it.

So here is our list of drivers who are wanting to go and those who have booked! BTW, I have paid for my lad to be a second driver, all I can say is be kind as he is a track virgin!

Well, with 5 booked, they owe us 1.5 garages already. ;)

I will have to contact them by email again with our real names to claim our freebie, at Bedford it was strange looking at the times as they were all listed with real names, I did not know who was who lol

Hmm, after looking at videos of the place, I reckon the Brisk Rover, with it's short ratios, would be bouncing off the limiter in top gear for most of it so I think I'll give it a miss.

fastest I achieved on any straight was 90 mph in the Fabia VRS MK II  you will be fine

Maybe we should have our forum user names on our cars and on name badges ? This would help identify who's who lol!

Great idea, I can get some names stickers made, I had some done for a night rally, they were the door numbers, looked good and were on a peelable adhesive material.

See if we fill this event and I will get them made.

You hear that Hayden ? 90 mph max in a fabia II vRS, you'll be fine ;)

I've got number plates with my user name.

I've got number plates with my user name.

So have I.

Just on a different car... :D

It's only down the road from me, I don't suppose bikes are allowed ?  :)

I can't see the scout being much fun around Oulton, and it's a circuit I know really really well.

  • 2 weeks later...

Cars only on this occasion fluffmeister.

Any more takers for this day out in October?

Good stuff! ^

Hopefully we could all be on track together at some stage? Should be a larf!

Wonder if this weather will hold out till 8th October lol!

I want rain :)

No one else interested?

Wetter = better.

I'd much rather have rain than blazing heat.

Fabia heat soak is bad in everyday conditions let alone trying to do a track day in 30+ degrees.

Agree. Did brunters many years ago and combine heat with track = tyres that melt lol
