The wife just phoned to let me know that...

...she's scratched the car. Brilliant. Haven't seen the damaged but it was front nearside versus wall as she attempted to swing the nose into a parking bay. Sounds like it's gouged back to the plastic 20-30 cm.

Happy Monday everyone! :wall:

Uh oh... That doesn't sound good... Hope it's not as bad as I imagine a wall could do to it.

Girlfriend took back quarter out on a concrete post on saturday!

They really shouldnt be on the road! But god bless them its not their fault! Its the female brain - has no perception of distance or spacial awareness

Bet the wall was -

in a really stupid place,

jumped out of nowhere,

Invisible,

SWMBO "little scratch" -

She's 38 and a bit weeks pregant too, so I can hardly shout at her over it, but why can't she do this to her car rather then mine?! The Octy gets all the abuse ferrying the kids about, long drives and taking dirty/dusty stuff to the dump. Poor girl needs a rest and pamper (the car, not the wife ).

Don't worry, you're not alone, mine has damaged her brand new Ibiza. Rolled back into a low concrete bollard and extensively scratched the bumper. At least it isn't deformed or cracked so a quick wave of Chips Away's magic wand should see it good as new!

They are handy for driving back from the Pub though

Parking by touch - my wifes done that before, but of course it wasn't her faulty.

Daughter has recently done the same with the Fiesta, again it wasn't her fault.

Little fluffy heads, I don't know why we indulge them :giggle:

The wife managed to drag the passenger side of my silver PRISTINE VW Passat down next door's RED Fiesta. I was thirty miles away and in a different county but it was my fault for being late out of work :wonder:

I had the same last week on the FRV. I was calm, didn't swear and said not to worry. However, if anyone had hear me later on when I was on the drive inspecting the damage they would have thought very little of my language and views on women being allowed to drive cars or indeed operate any form of machinery. I reckon it would have got me locked up for at least 24hrs, but panel damage is panel damage and a bit of a swear made it all better.

I'm not going to sort it out either as the quote was over £250 and it'll only happen again. I'm going to be all French about this and live with it.

Haha, I made a similar comment about French cars this evening. Believe it or not but my wife is French and usually p!ss-taking like that earns me a swift kick, however given the circumstances, she let it slide

No physical damage involved (for a change) but SWMBO got caught doing 39 in a 30 at a static camera site she goes past every day... One of those big yellow things. Anyhooo, although I was at the time 15 miles away sat at my desk it was my fault. All because I wanted a Skoda-bit extreme I thought! Now on my second. He he

Atleast she told you, my misses hit a something and wreaked the front bumper one night and never said a thing. When i saw it the next morning she didn't know how it happened.

........ And somewhere in the universe there is a forum with women saying " husband damaged the car yesterday, but he says it definitely wasn't his fault".

And yet, the majority of customers I take through our IAM course who are better at driving, are women. They don't have the "I'm best" attitude, they just listen, take on board and do it.

My sister managed to go over the curb (6"), 10 yards of stones in concrete and crash into a building in a brand new Superb in Elegance. That's what insurance is for. Interestingly enough, there was no structural damage, and the bonnet was only slightly dented.

Well to be fair. It really not their fault. Or so I've been told. Its we guys who constantly lie to them about how much 10 inches really is. This is what we get for lying apparently.

my mrs once smashed up my old car, ran into the back of an old escort (which was written off). She was also heavily pregnant, she was more concerned that her coke had spilled onto fer fries. She thought the bonnet had just popped open lol, cost over £2k for the insurance company to repair.

It could be worse. This Skoda could be yours!

In the words of Harry Enfied. "Women, for pity's sake, don't drive!"

Sounds like the boy. Bought his moped last Monday, working fine. I brought it home, working fine. I put it in the garage, working fine. Phone call at 1100h the following morning whilst at work. Tried to start it, its broken and I don't know why.

No mention of filling it up with fuel ?????? :D

The Chips Away guy has quoted £130 to rub down, prime, paint and lacquer that front corner, blending from the wheel arch round to the edge of the number plate. It's a fair whack, but the damage is minor and bumper in one piece, so I suppose I should be grateful it doesn't need a full respray, or worse, a new bumper.
