Rear wiper

Featured Replies

Has any body got an idea why my rear wiper comes on ? If I chuck it round a few islands or go over a few bumps it comes on. It only does it in the dry. It's drivin me bonkers

Either water in the motor (seems less likely), or a dodgy wiper stalk.

I would try some switch cleaner in the stalk, and if it still happens, pop off the plastic boot trim and check for water ingress/broken wire insulation. I assume you have a hatch and not an estate.

Sounds like same thing I had which was motor! When I took off motor and took it apart it was so soaked in water the mother board had cracked and was so rusty on every connection it was untrue! I had get new one and drive around without a motor for few weeks, when got new motor, I got some sealer from where I work and sealed all connections in motor, then got water

Nice one folks will check motor first

Have fun trying to get the bootlid cover back on !!!

Just bin it and rubber grommet the hole

Have fun trying to get the bootlid cover back on !!!

Its not that bad, i take out the parcel shelf, sit in the boot, with the cover where would be when closed.

Close down the lid nearly the full way, pass the strap thru its slot, and work from the top of the cover around to the bottom pushing on the clips..

First time id to do it was a bit of a Top Gear British Leyland Challenge moment - opened the boot and the cover stayed where it was..

It was a faff getting it back on that time, but i learned from it!

Nightmare this is, need 2 to do it

Mac's got the right idea. That's the best technique

Disconnected the plug by wiper motor in the end. I think it's the motor so will stop it and look see

Just bin it and rubber grommet the hole

What size grommet is it ?

Don't rubber grommit, looks pap. Get a glass/Perspex bung from eBay.

What size grommet is it ?

Er, a grommet has a hole in the middle. What you want is a blanking plug (no idea what diameter, but I think it's the same as the spanner size on the spindle nut that holds the motor to the underside of the tailgate).

It's *about* 25-26mm but please, get one of these instead;
