So the fabia vrs is the new saxo vts, what is the new fabia vrs?

Featured Replies

^ but it is crap. Made with crap parts. Look crap. Attract crap drivers. Are crap at keeping there value. Crap on fuel. Interiors are crap. Rear subframes are crap... the list goes on.. but they are nippy for what they are.. but so are civics.. cannot be compared to the vrs tho. They are miles better as all round cars not just cheap crap to thrash around a council estate or the B&Q carpark lol.

U cannot put a mk1 fabia vrs in the same bracket as a saxo vts. They are completely different. I wouldnt be seen dead in a vts or any french car. But i happily drive a skoda :D

I love my Fabia I do

  • I still dont think they have the mass appeal. Going to a few meets I can count the number of fabia's, even skodas for that matter, on one hand usually amongst 100's. They still arnt mainstream or may

^

But is crap - your opinion,

Look crap - your opinion

Atrract crap drivers - Not the cars fault?

Are crap at keeping value - your opinion

Crap of fuel - Next to what? 1.6 VTS mpg vs a diesel fabia, then yeah much like a Veyron is crap on fuel next to a diesel fabia

Interiors are crap - Next to what of the same age? In your opinion...

Subframes - Unlike the Fabia melting turbo's, crap bushes and various leaks from the rear doors..

The list goes on...

I'm not saying its a better car, I am saying that they arent slow nor boring to drive. In fact the good thing about the VTR / VTS is in a few years time, with most been destroyed by idiots or rotting the ones that will be left will be well set up go-karts for road / track usage that will easily show a pair of heels to almost every Fabia vRS diesel on here.

Would I own one, no never. Do I see one on the road / track and automatically think its a chav idiot that cant drive thrashing his 1.1 furio about, no. I did see a Fabia vRS the other day trying to hoon around with what I can only assume was a either a very bad map smoking its arse off hardly making progress or a massive boost leak. So I guess that must mean each and every Fabia is a ****box running cherry driven by a chav thats tight (other than mine!)

Ok so if we compare the interior to something much similar in age + spec the 6n2 polo gti 1.6 16v engine 1999-2001 so same age.

Very quick look on ebay shows the saxo IS crap at holding its value

Screenshot_2013-09-11-13-50-35.png

Compared to same age + miliage (ish) polo gti

Screenshot_2013-09-11-13-51-06.png

Compare the interior (which as i said IS crap)

Saxo

Screenshot_2013-09-11-13-50-19.png

Polo gti (same age as you requested)

Screenshot_2013-09-11-13-51-53.png

And thats being generous. The fabia vrs WILL hold its value better than the polo gti because its a diesel + isnt slow like the polo. Also having a turbo increases the value even if it makes a car less reliable ;)

As said before u cannot compare the two. Its like comparing a scooby to a golf gti. Completely dif cars designed to do a completely dif job.

The vts and even more so the vtr (because there not even fast) are crap tho :D

What makes a car built in 1997 that is a petrol with 120bhp that does 35mpg and is under 1ton a crap car?

Your looking at a prefacelift saxo against a premier brand polo, which when new cost £2000 MORE.... if you owned both from new and then tried to sell both today that shows the polo as the more expensive by £300 +

Its slower too.

I rarely see the need to join in, but the blinkered VAG view a few people seem to have (much like any other forum to the respective brand) does annoy me a tad.

The saxo wasnt a crap car at the time, it wasnt a crap car second hand because of the 2nd hand costs, and in the future wont be a crap car because it would kill a Polo GTi of the same era on anything to do with PERFORMANCE.

How it looks, sounds etc is all in the eye on the beholder.

Based on some replies saying how slow a VTS / VTR (which both have book figures faster than a Fabia vRS MK1!) it makes me wonder, maybe the new chav car which is "king" is indeed a Fabia vRS, not because of the car...

But because of certain people that drive them.

I'd like an old Saxo as a beater car for sodding about in, I often go out in my van

because I'm not over the moon about where I might have to park my Audi.

The journeys would be a lot more fun in a Saxo than they are in the Kangoo.

I also have been considering a Renault sport Clio as well, but can't really justify

getting another 2 litre so I don't have to use my sunday best 2 litre :D

^ Because you obv know your cars... a Saxo VTS isnt slow, nor is boring.

Thats just my opinion

They are known as the 'typical boyracer' cars. I can't imagine a MK1 Fabia vRS 1.9 diesel to be a 'typical boyracer' car.

Not yet no, but as they get cheaper to buy this will happen...

Enjoy this forum while it's still populated with people who don't converse in text speak

and end every sentence with the word 'Bruv'. Come back in three years and I'll be proved right.

Im a boy racer bruv, nar meen.

Think your getting mixed up with "fast" and "good"

There are faster cars u can buy for the same price as a vrs.. doesnt make them a better car. It depends what your looking for in a car.. quality or cheap speed.

Going back to the OPs question..

Is the vrs the new vts?

No.

As said people dont buy the vrs just because its cheap.. makes a nice noise (it doesnt).. and its fast (standard its not amazing).

These are the reasons people bought the vts at the time. The kind of people who bought/ still buy the vts will buy the cheaper.. faster.. noiser + Less practible alternatives to the vrs. So it wont end up being the new "chav bus" down at Mc Donalds on a friday night imo. Which the vts was/ is. And that is not just my opinion.. thats just a fact of life :D

I had a saxo vtr. I fitted leather seats as the patterned fabric was a bit nasty. I enjoyed it as it was nippy, light and handled rather well.

It was also a fantastic colour

Image151.jpg

Admittedly it attracts idiots due to its cheap asking price, but I wasn't one of them.

The Vrs will never be a chavs car as they hold their price and people actually keep them for a long time. They couldn't afford a new turbo anyway if things went wrong so wouldn't touch them.

a Saxo VTS isnt slow, nor is boring.

No, dont seem that mixed up? You quote your opinion, with some false facts about 2nd hand prices meaning a Polo is the better buy because its held its value more to which I dismiss based on new cost vs current pricing.

At no point have I said a Saxo VTR / VTS is a better car than a Fabia vRS TDi, because "better" is open to interpretation and the needs of the driver.

The needs of a chav by previous posts seems to be cheap to buy, cheap to insure, cheap to run and faster than a milk float. All of which the Fabia does.

The fact that out of everything I have to use on the road, the Fabia seems to attract the MG ZS owner with their foglights on at 5pm at night, weaving around the road like they are trying to warm up their tyres, going over roundabouts cutting up 2/3 cars to get in front going straight on in a right hand lane then turning off in front of me 2 miles later whilst handbraking in the wet and still not getting the rear end out speaks volumes and that was just the journey home last night where I got my usual 53mpg over a 9 mile journey (its up hill on the way back!)
