Superb Estate & People Carriers !!

Featured Replies

Just heard from my local Spy that there has been a recent meeting for some of the Dealer Principals at Skoda UK HQ.

Amongst Topics for discussion were the following.

Superb Estate/Van/Hearse (Combi - Sorry Denis), this WILL happen 2005/6

Plans for a People Carrier, but no fixed date yet.

Sounds like this maybe the answer to some peoples prayers !!

;)

Graham

Why? After it's been blocked in order not to rival the ephemeral Passat estate rep mobile? Or is the old Passat going out in 2005/6? I know the A6 is up for replacement next year, and the Passat is on the same platform, so that could be it.

Thats what I thought Mattijs,

New A6, followed by Passat. This leaves they way open for the Superb van.

Ah, well, y'see, the bods at Ford had a stroke of genius with the Transit - they made it so bad to drive anyway that it's almost impossible to tell if it needs fixing or repairing... ;)

Thats similar to FIAT in Fix It Again Tommorow. Well it is Italian!

Sorry but I dont belive the Superb will even be about come 2005/6.And as for an estate, well everything that has been said on the subject before is all about the extra brace behind the rear seats which stops the rear seats being tiltable, let alone an estate.

Will be interested if they do tho, but still dont belive it.

Cheers

Andy

I have seen a picture/mockup(not sure) of a Superb estate somewhere, can't find it at the moment.

New A6 is due for UK launch June'04 - Passat is due (I think) Sept'04 -- leaves time for Superb in 05/06

The bracing doesnt stop them making an estate -- untill recently A6 saloons had a solid metal bulkhead behind rear seats -- didn't stop them making an Avant(estate).

MPV will probably be based on VW Touran.

Text summary, machine translated.

Surprisingly VOLKSWAGEN gave now nevertheless green light for the Skoda Superb combi. How the magazine car tip reports, the large combi is to be finished to the IAA 2003 and go at the beginning of of 2004 into the sales. Price off about. 30.000 . In addition a Superb with 4,0-Liter-W8 (275 HP) and all-wheel drive is to be in planning.

But that's from December 2002, and with lots of "would", "could" and "is said to be", rounded off by a resounding "Dies ist keine offizielle Meldung !"

And would it be logical to introduce the new Octavia and the Superb Combi at the same auto show? Manufacturers like to spread out their premieres, don't they...

But a Superb W8 4x4... now there's a thought.
