Ibiza Cupra???

Featured Replies

What are these? diesel or petrol? What are the specs?

Following one on a motorway, a gap appears in the traffic and he floors it. I decide to see when his power will run out, but he steadily pulls away! I was in fifth at the time so probably not the best gear to accelerate from 80MPH. I saw him change up at X MPH and there was a telling cloud of soot so most likely 6 speed diesel. I thought he might struggle against the Octy at full speed but he held his own. I reckon it was chipped. (them grapes are probably sour anyway)

Some blerk in an X reg Civic Coupe then came up behind us but couldn't keep pace with top end speed. We all went onto another motor way and the civic and the Ibiza had a proper race. I gave up as I'm familiar with the speed restrictions on this particular motorway and the two of them were driving like tw*ts, undertaking traffic etc but they absolutely flew away. there was nothing in it.

pd160????? would have murdered you in the midrange, or could have been a chipped 1.8t???

either or!

If your on about a MK4 Ibiza it could be a 160 bhp diesel or 180 bhp petrol but both can be easily modded.

It was an 05 plate and there was lots of black smoke coming out so I'm guessing the 160 diesel. Fast little car though.

Usually 'Cupra' mean fast so...:D

No chance you could make out the tiddly "TDI" on the boot then? ;)

As you say, I don't think a petrol T would smoke like that so I reckon it was a 160 cupra. I've not heard yet IF they can be chipped and by whom yet though. Must get over to SCN more often. :D

Be interesting to hear what they map them up to if they do - I would imagine it's possible with a custom map.

Out of the box, they are as quick or even quicker than remapped Furby's apparently.

I know of one which has been Revo'd to around 200bhp.

I'll do a search & confirm the figures.

198bhp 299lbft.

Thats only really Fabia VRS power then.

Jabba @ around 190 bhp and 310lbft. (obviously not wishing to start the great rollers debate again)

Thought you'd be looking at a bit more although I don't know anything about the engine, is it a PD130 with a different map on it or is it mechanically different?

The blocks slightly different. Uses a bigger KKK turbo I think along with a FMIC.

Think I read on SCN that a CC remap takes it to around 195bhp.

Most remapped PD130's go to around 170bhp on JBS's rollers. A Ibiza Cupra makes 160bhp but has a fmic so likely to keep its power instead of heat soak like the PD130's.

AFAIK the 130 and 150 (which the 160 cupra is a remap of) differ more than just the map, though exactly what the differences are i do not know.

They've also got suspension differences, FMIC and proper climate control!

Dont forget the AP 4 pot brakes :D

As mentioned above Revo will net you just under 200bhp

whilst revo on a pd130 will get you circa 180 (it was actually designed for 175)

The standard turbo boost on the 160 is 1.55 bar, which is around the max reliable limit for a turbo on a pd130

oh and the fmic too :D

All in all a bit beefier then.

I went from a remapped Ibiza 130 TDI to a Cupra 160 TDI and the standard Cupra was every bit as quick as the remapped Ibiza.

Now the Cupra's been remapped its a real beast. I had a little run against my friend in his R32 and there was nothing in it up until 90-95 when we backed off, I was sure that as the speeds got higher he would start pulling away but it diddnt happen which annoyed him slightly, especially as he is a real diesel hater :D

A german tuning company can take the Ibiza Cupra TDi to 217 bhp, it definately has a larger turbo, stronger internals and most important a giant FMIC :D, every modders heaven.
